What does seeing shooting stars mean in your country?

It's a good thing. We're encouraged to make a wish because a shooting star is a sign of hope.

You're just told to make a wish and it will come true.
-
If you see a shooting star and make a wish, it supposedly comes true.

Many times when they are mentioned in the news than just to say random stuff like: " ... fell into someone's garden..." or "... they randomly captured it on their camera while sitting in the car .." blah blah. If we go by the meaning in American cartoons than sometimes people in there think you have to think about something and than it happens but actually there is nobody in Germany who acts like that when they would see one, because this is the same bullshit as blowing candles on a cake and your wish comes true or blowing a ripped off eyelash for a wish ... thats just not happening

From Chinese movies, you need to make a wish
-
Here people also say to make a wish when you see a shooting star.
There are meteorite showers two-three times a year and sometimes people would go to the parts of the city that are not well lit, specifically to watch out for the shooting stars

Good sign.
Make a wish and it is gonna happen, or a sign from the Divine about fortune or reassurance of a fortune.

I've always known that it meant I had to make a wish
