I think it will have a big impact on their American/Western fanbase. Overall, I think they'll be fine but this ruined their chances at getting a viral summer hit - even if they do release a better apology. And I think they're at a major risk of losing all the momentum they built up with Midas Touch, Sticky, and Igloo.

I'll say it.. groups who come from small/nugu companies should be extra careful when it comes to scandals/controversies specially when they are still "new" and building their fb.

Kiof was up there getting hits in the kpop community, getting loved by ifans, but it's an interest where in any wrong move it could turn into no interest.

what made things worst is that it was a conscious mistake, they knew what they were during so..

Maybe it won't affect them much, we need to wait their next cb, but it is something that could make new fans into non fans when they discover it.

Feel like the "rookie" period has shortened so much with the way people look at groups now. It's like groups have six months and a few titles for the masses to decide if they're good or not. That's the new and fresh period.

I have been on Twitter and TikTok and this seems much different than the usual scandal. I think their poor apology did more damage than not even apologizing.

I am curious how their next comeback performs. I can see a scenario where idols might not do challenges with them or do challenges for their songs. I can see fans calling out idols if they do challenges with KIOL. I remember seeing people getting angry at winter for example for doing a challenge with Keena. I never understood why people got angry about that, but I can see something much worse for idols if they do a challenge with Kiss of Life. I am unsure if people will forget because this just feels different.

Idols are NOT going to alienate KIOF lmao. We will continue to get dance challenges with other idols. Said idols may get backlash initially but it will quiet down if the comeback is a hit.

I do want to believe that people can change and should be able to make up for past mistakes but Kiss of life will have to WORK HARD for forgivness. They really went back to old behaviour that was condemned by the audience of kpop YEARS ago. It was so easy to avoid offending people like this and we all know that what they did is a sensitive topic, no matter how we feel about it - if we agree or disagree. I am not surprised that some of their fans were disappointed and left. It doesn't help that they hurt their own audience. But they could pull through, depends on the percentage of the fandom who is sensitive about racism. I was not their fan so for one my opinion doesn't matter regarding their popularity.

I think a heartfelt and honest apology and an attitude-change can do wonders even if there are people who won't accept it at any case. Without it I am sceptical of their career going up, but we will see, some idols popularity survives surprising scandals.

Yeah and no one will care. This issue isn't as big as y'all are making it out to be. Most of the ppl complaining will forget about it in a week especially now that we have an apology from the members. They have nothing to talk about now except nitpicking at the statement just so they can drag this issue. If there is any backlash at the time of KIOF's comeback it will go away on its own if the song is a hit.
