[RANK] Is Lisa the best BlackPink soloist?

    I believe that so far so Lisa. Everything she's put out is so good, there's absolutely not one single flaw on any of these releases.


    I love all of our girls badly, especially Jennie. But Lisa has been surprising me the most out of the girls!


    I love Jennie's Mantra. Zen is absolutely art and the superior releases from BP's solos so far. But, to me, Love Hangover is just cute, it's not the song to keep replaying - got sick from it pretty fast. I never really liked Lily Allen's tracks that much and that's the vibe Love Hangover gives to me.


    And Rosie, oh, Rosé. APT is awsome, there's no denying that. TTTE is also great, but I also got sick of it pretty fast. As much as it is very good, it's not the kind of music I tend to gravitate towards to. My taste pulls me into Lisa's flawless releases and keeps me there.

    shouldn't you wait for jisoo to release her mini album before we make any ranking? or maybe for all of them to release their albums. Jennie and Lisa have more music we still haven't heard of

    I don't want to do a ranking because pretty much all of their songs are average, but overall, I'd say Rose/Jennie on top, we'll see what Jisoo is cooking, but Lisa is by far the worst. She's proving everyone why did I leave the mainstream Western Pop genre.


    I mean, I liked "Moonlit Floor", but that's just a remix, and "Born Again" was good, BUT it's more like Doja's and Raye's song than hers. Also, I don't feel like Lisa is trying to do something different, she keeps releasing the same Western pop songs, meanwhile the others do released something that they never did before.

    well i think it's because she's the one who released the most title songs

    Jennie released just 2 songs for the moment

    and Jisoo didn't even release anything


    As for Lisa being the best blackpink soloist i don't agree

    at least for me and atp Lisa is to be honest the most uninteresting bp soloist


    What i like about Jennie and rosé for the moment is that their work just feels like "them" i don't know how to explain it but :


    - with Jennie solo especially with Love Hangover i feel like i'm discovering a new side of Jennie as an artist and very far from the Jennie from blackpink that we knew.

    The type of song that Love Hangover is something that i've never imagine Jennie would explore and the MV too brings out a side of Jennie that we never saw as an artist, her comic side and someone who doesn't necessarily take herself seriously.

    Even ZEN is a song i would have never imagine jennie would do


    - as for Rosé all her promo, album, concept, and even interview that she did for her album just represent herself, it's her talking about her history about life and love and she's doesn't shy away from question like she would have been in the past.

    Her album feels really personnal


    I don't know how Jisoo album will look like or sound like


    but for the Moment Lisa have released 4 songs to tease her album

    and i must say when i look at her career and what she have released i'm like " i don't feel like i'm discovering lisa as an artist and individual"

    (and Btw Lisa is my bias in Blackpink)


    but it's just that all the things she released are things i imagined her doing even under YG ent, all the artist she collaborate with are artist i could have seen her collaborate with 2-3 years ago when she was under YG.


    the Lisa i'm seeing right now, feels like the exact same lisa i was seeing in blackpink


    and i say Lisa career as soloist feels to me the worst is cuz her whole album concept and roll out feels messy

    the whole concept of different persona, feels badly executed, and gimmicky but not in a good way

    like i already said cuz the concept was badly plan and executed it feels like she just decided on this concept to put all the music she like in one album even if they don't sound cohesive with each other.


    overall i think lisa career as soloist is the less interesting is because where i can see why Rose and Jennie needed to leave YG to explore more horizon artistically, or be more free in the way they want to tell their story or how they needed to leave to explore a new type of songs that YG would have let them explore.

    I just don't get this feeling for Lisa career, her career for the moment feels exactly how i anticipated to go for years if she had a solo career.

    And i'm still waiting to be surprise and for her to show me that as an artist she's more than what he have expected her to be and more than what we see on the surface

The lines are very balanced and neither Doja or Raye overshined Lisa in any way, vocally, visually or in charisma or presence. Lisa's voice matched pretty well with Raye's - not discussing autotune or similar- and Doja just did her pop Doja thing, which I missed very much, and it did fit the song without overpowering the other two.


    You cannot buy into that hater bs that Born Again doesn't feels like a Lisa release just because we haven't seen her doing it.

    Born Again may be pure mainstream juice, but neither New Woman, Rockstar nor Moonlit floor sound like the same thing. Mainstream? Yes, no doubt. The same? Definetly not

    Like I said, I like "Born Again", it's her best song, but I still feel she's just a featured artist. Vocally, they definitely outshined Lisa, you can't deny that. She's not even close to them. That's why you can hear so much autotune on her voice, but not on the others, but it's not surprising, Lisa is not a singer. Charisma has nothing to do with good music! If you only listen to the song, you can't see or feel her charisma. Only her performance.


    Sure, her new songs are not the same, but what I was trying to say is that all of her songs are basically the same type of mainstream pop songs, and one of them was basically just a remix.


    I'm not a hater, I'm just bored with Western MAINSTREAM Pop in general, this isn't about Lisa. I'm not a fan of Doja or Raye either, btw. I loved Lady Gaga, but I still didn't listen to her new song, the same goes for many Pop artists. I'm just not interested anymore.


    As for "Rockstar", I liked the beat, and if I remember correctly even the chorus, but the song itself was repetitive and bland. Again, it's not like Lisa released absolute shit songs, it's just that she didn't release anything I didn't hear 100s of time before.

    I can deny that and I will stand my ground. She overcame herself in Born Again's studio version and she definetly does not seems like a featured artist. Like I said, the lines are very balanced and her vocal did match Reye's.

    Besides, an artist isn't stricly a singer. Lisa is a performer and a great dancer, but that doesn't means Born Again doesn't displays her own personal artistic take. Artists often create characters to perform scenes they haven't actually been through and she's imprinting her own artistic persona into it.


    Lisa's releases aren't the most intimate or raw. And it doesn't matter really. Lisa is putting out what she wants and it seems like she's living her mainstream western pop performer dream for now and she's doing a great job at it. And dreams can also change, let us enjoy even if you got sick of the genre.


    Seems like you are also implying that good music does not reaches to autotune, which is safe to say that you are wrong. Ever since Cher, a great performer and vocalist, made autotune popular, many other "good music" came out sporting autotune's tech.


    So yeah, Lisa's may have used autotune in Born Again and so what? The music is good even if you didn't like it.

    Period, your aesthetic being Zen and you liking Lisa songs, omg, taste!


    I am personally enjoying a lot how different the girls are from the BP image and Lisa is simply amazing like, her song choices are extraordinary and pop wise yes, to me she is the best.

    I was also super surprised with Zen and it's my fave song from Jennie so far from this new era. In the end the girls are exploring with excellence.

    In terms of music as of now it's almost a tie between Lisa and Jennie and Rosé at last, Jisoo is still a surprise so let's see if this rank will change.

    Lisa is a DANCER, and that's all, basically. You could argue that she's a rapper, but she didn't write a single line till she left YG, and even with Kpop standards, she's not better than average. Especially compared to the likes of Doja, but that's not even a fair comparison.


    You can enjoy anything you want, just because I have a different opinion, doesn't mean you have to change yours. And it's not like I hate the song, I literally said, I like it, it's just that I'm moved on from Western Pop a long time ago.


    One of my main job is a sound engineer! Trust me, I know that pretty much every Music label using autotune, but in Kpop it's overused. Like I said, compare her voice with the other two. Lisa's voice is unrecognizable! Autotune and pitch correction is used for a reason, not to make singers sound like whales.


    And no, Lisa didn't use autotune, her producer did, because they know she's not a singer, so they had to "fix" her voice, but they actually ruined it. She sound almost like those stupid fan edit "MR REMOVED" videos.

    Because it implies that there's another version of the song, but there isn't. Usually there's only a studio version and a live version, and sometimes remixes, but that's all.

    I don't care if they're title tracks/singles or not, these are the songs I like:


    New Woman, Stay A Little Longer, and Born Again (Doja>Raye>Lisa). Mantra grew on me.


    imo both Jennie and Lisa are lacking a musical identity/persona. As for teaser aesthetics, I like Jisoo's the most. They are the most "k-pop."
