I need another IVE comeback now to make sense of this mess

  • The girl group hierarchy is in total chaos.

NewJeans reign at the top, but their dominance may be interrupted by their own parent company who seem to be their biggest anti

I predicted LE SSERAFIM would be the second biggest girl group by the end of 2024, but some very poor decisions by that same parent company have completely tarnished their reputation in Korea

And IVE, while still putting up great numbers, haven't had a mega hit song in a whole year, which is concerning, due to Korea being their strongest market. They don't have Spotify to fall back on like LSF do.

Then there's aespa, who have re-established themselves as a top 3 girl group with easily their biggest hit song since Next Level. This means the same thing could happen to IVE, so Dives have hope. But I need to see aespa go on a STREAK of big hits before I make the final call on them.

And I haven't forgotten GIDLE. Their #1 and PAK streak may have ended in the most recent comeback, but they ALMOST dethroned Supernova, the biggest hit song of the year, showcasing their substantial domestic popularity, no matter how much AKP bashes them with every release.

I can make new tiers once IVE returns, so I need SS to hurry up

And no I haven't forgotten ILLIT, BM, KOI or Meowth. I'm most impressed with KOI, but I need a bigger sample size from all of them.

  • Didn't IVE have a comeback recently? they did okay, but let's be real—it wasn't anything to write home about.

Who even cares about these outdated K-charts anymore? Only a handful of people seem to lose their minds over them. Nowadays, it's just 200k unique listens on Melon, which is not exactly groundbreaking as it used to be. IVE, along with (G)I-DLE, NMIXX, and ITZY, has lost significant traction on Spotify and global digital platforms. The 4th gen is just about to hit its peak, which is only natural.

    :pepe-notes::exit-pepe:  :pepe-peek:

  • aespa has a comback in october / november and they'll probably do really well with the right song. they need a good one to establish their A list status.

kiof is probably gonna grow bigger and establish their place in the top 3/5.

And I think with the right song both 50 50 and specially meov will do fine to well. Maybe even better than just fine.

On the other side, i predicted ssera flop and that's happening right now. Itzy way in coming. But even with a weaker fandom.

Without a mega banger, Ive's peak seems pretty behind as well and will go down the twice way.

Illit's next comback is gonna underperform in korea but also probably in spotify in comparaison to Magnetic.

Baemon is ... whatever i don’t even care. Nothing remarquable.

Idle and NJs is uncertain... But if NJs situation goes well, i think they will rip 2025 appart with their full album and reclaim their absolute dominance.

Im pretty convinced Meovv is not gonna endanger their dominion in korea for sure.

    So that's it.

  • IVE will return to peak form. They're just in the 2024 top group slump. 2025 is their year :music-raccoon:

I still have enough faith in them to keep them as the #2 girl group, but if they can't get back to at least After Like levels digitally, the noise on the outside will grow louder.

Outside of NewJeans, their digitals were historically awesome. Not so much the last two eras.

Korea still cares about Korean charts and that will always matter to the idols. Always.

  • Ive comeback won't do any better than Klaxon both in Korea and internationally. I don't see them competing for the #1 spot unless they ditch whatever tryhard concept they are doing rn and go back to their chaebol crush sound

They need to move away from now two straight eras of heavy rap title tracks. It's really bizarre and none of them have been nearly as good as Kitsch.

I'm not saying be unoriginal and duplicate Love Dive or I Am, but there is a reason those songs worked so well and these recent title tracks significantly underperformed in comparison.

  • Imagine thinking aespa haven't already established themselves as A listers. :pepe-life-support:

Even before Supernova, they were A list.

A list to me is like the top 3. It used to be NJs / Ive / Idle. Now it’s more like NJs / aespa / idle with Kiof edging idle on. So Ive in my ranking is more B tier right now.

I guess i made a mistake. I should have said S tier rather than A tier.

So for aespa to stay in that S/A tier they need another hit song. Not necessarily as big as Supernova but another stable number 1/2.

What im trying to say is that with another hit, they will establishe their dominance over groups like Idle and Ive. Which is huge.

Otherwise they might lose their place in the S/A tier to another group like Kiof for example.

  • Ok.

I love KIOF but they have a long way to go before they can be a S/A tier group. They are the most popular 5th gen group in Korea tho :pepe-angel:

The only time I agree with you (unfortunately) :pepe-hug:

  • Honestly IVE is past digital chart dominance. It could happen, but they solidified themselves as physicals and tour monsters. Chart atp is irrelevant. I never saw the girls so happy and radiant as they currently are with the world tour. It's a high that can't be compared to top #1 on charts, which they already have several.

Charts are never irrelevant for girl groups. Even SNSD still charts well and they're a 17 year old girl group.

That's just the cope talking. Face reality. It matters. My all time favorite girl group doesn't chart anything like they used to, but I don't devalue charting just because of that.

You want this due to the hierarchy. I want this because I love them and their music. I'm a bigger and truer fan than you.

No arguments here. I'm not a Dive, though I do like IVE

  • Well I don't think NewJeans can even be counted anymore, they are about to go on indefinite hiatus and Hybe has replaced them with Illit who stomped all over NewJeans global achievments. Not to mention they will never have another smash like their debut now that Hybe has cut all their payola to the group.

Lesserafim are essentially a joke, they are a mediocre dance group whose reputation is tanked in Korea, their album sales are down by like 50% or more (same as NewJeans) all they have is spotify which Hybe is paying a fortune for just so they can chart in the late 90's on the hot 100 for 1 week.

Meanwhile IVE have multiple hits under their belt, the best selling gg album of 2024 and are now finishing a $40 million dollar world tour.

  • Aespa are certainly a top group, they don’t need to prove anything anymore :!: but with all the new 5th gen girl groups and upcoming soon ( like SM ngg) and all the underwhelming results of current top gg and factor in NJ situation and Gidle contracts renewal, we will certainly see a new hierarchy this time next year :melon_think: the bigger question is what 4th gen girl group will keep their relevancy competing with newer groups :!:

This never happened. ILLIT has had not even 1/4th the impact as NewJeans in their debut era. And because of HYBE sabotaging NewJeans, it will negatively impact ILLIT as well.

NewJeans is at risk due to HYBE, but definitely not because of any group replacing them. HYBE could never.

I see where your real issue is.

IVE have not had a massive hit since I Am, which is over a year old, but they get the benefit of a doubt and that gets swept under the rug? No, I don't think so

They have to PROVE they're still the second biggest girl group in the game. And if they don't, it'll be aespa taking that spot.

Not coping at all. I know damn well IVE can do well on charts, and they will. But as someone who followed how they are doing since the world tour started at the beginning of the year, I think that they are more much more invested in performing now. I know they will make great songs because the girls are now more confident than ever, and doing extremely well vocally. That's what I mean when I say digital performance doesn't matter as much anymore now that they are interested in real artist stuff, like performances.

For example Madonna, Beyonce and Michael Jackson reached a point where their interest was beyond music charts. It was, primarily, putting on a good show that would set them apart from other artists.

Now, i am NOT saying that IVE is at the same level as these artists or ever will be. But I am saying that their current passion right now is truly live performances. Each member blossomed with the world tour. It was a very beautiful thing to witness.

That's why I say that if they do poorly on charts, it's not as relevant anymore. They are already ahead of their peers when it comes to performances. You can call it copium. I call it telling you how it is.

Other girl groups can do massively well on charts, but they still don't have a strong stage presence and solid performances like IVE have. That's what truly set IVE apart from their peers.

narcissistic, my god i love it

    It's true though

It's like 'Oh we got No.1? Oh we won a music show? Cool cool cool cool cool'

They are off doing bigger things now on the big big stage

  • remember when we were chatting about their concert, and you said just go, its worth it?

I went, its fucking worth it.

I'm glad you went. Such a life-changing experience! That's the type of concert that will turn casual fans into stans and non-fans into fans.

This was filmed right next to me by the staff.

That was my view of them.

  • i havent came across a bad review yet.

bucket list to attend one concert

  • Amazing.

See, the thing is... Regardless of where your seat is, you're bound to have an amazing experience because that's the type of effect IVE has on an audience.

In the days leading up to the concert, I was thinking of people who might be interested in attending because I had a few spare tickets.

I asked a friend who's primarily a BLINK. I asked him how much he liked IVE and if he would buy a ticket to see them. He told me he liked some of their music, but not enough to pay. I then asked him if he would go if he got a free ticket. He said yes, so I gave it to him.

After attending the concert, he gained newfound appreciation for IVE's discography, especially some of the B-sides he previously didn't care much for. He also experienced some of the most intense post-concert depression he ever had.

That's proof of how special this group is. If anyone is ever on the fence about going to an IVE concert, I firmly believe they should just go and experience the magic we were blessed with.

  • I actually remember vividly the interaction I had with the girl from staff.

I went outside to the loo.

And she came in my seat (VIP lounge in the se)

Had my food and beer in front of her and she was trying to get a shot.

Saw me coming back in, she moved back but left her phone.

I signaled to her for her phone, and she was thinking how to get the shot.

So I just told her, go one seat over, learn over then turn and shoot it.

I won't say her name, but it was on her badge.
