ITZY lost their appeal simply because Sneakers was destined to KR public.

It would be worrying if korean gp and fans dropped Ive instead, because nugu groups finding their success overseas instead of their home country happens all the time.

That does not apply Gidle. Gidle reach new peak internationally after OMG in 2020 once Itzy was still rookie group. During 2022 They reach new peak with Tomboy. During 2023 they reach new peak again with Queencard.
Queencard is actually doing better in YT than any 4th gen song this year except cupid. It have got over half billion views in less than 5 months if you look YT chart.

A little off-topic but some of yall are HEAVILY underestimating NewJean's success and popularity in the west. No, they will not be overtaken by the next shiny new toy to debut under the next big company. Frankly, they're too big for that. Many of the girl groups that were gaining popularity in the west that were "thrown aside" either had that potential squashed by their company's bad management or their western "popularity" was exaggerated because people were eager for the "next Blackpink."
Also, no offense but all the other girl groups before Newjeans that were named the "biggest 4th gen girl group in the west" or the "next Blackpink" or whatever didn't even reach a quarter of the success in the west NewJeans have accumulated in a little over a year. NewJeans are too big right now for them to be tossed aside for the next successful girl group. The only way that happens is if ADOR becomes JYP levels of incompetent.

Ive were the next BP 1.5 years ago but is now last or 2nd last in every global metric. They are effectively Izone and [ex-cute] friends, so lack the visuals across the board to make an impact.
Itzy were the next BP 3 years ago.
So all thats left is NJ, Aespa and LSF, out of which NJ is currently ahead.

I think Starship tried to appeal the west by picking a song that is great for tik-tok challenge, but the song itself isn't good and they changed IVE's sound into something generic.
Starship is biting off more than they can chew right now. 3 title tracks is unnecessary . They just need to pick 1 - 2 great songs that goes well with IVE for pre-release and title like Kitsch and I AM. Their chaebol concept worked for them the best, they should continue this concept and go with fun and melodic song like before.
Starship should have played it safe. A song that release on Monday 6 AM that can do well in kchart, and spent some money to promote them to the west like did they even distribute their album to the us yet?

4th gen GGs popularity is based on trends. And clearly a percentage of their fans are success stans. If a particular comeback doesn't click with the casual kpop fans, even their success fans will leave. Ultimately making it feel like their overall popularity has decreased.

i dont adore their concept and sound but it worked well for them, and only for them.
I dont want other GGs to start copying them or fitting themselves into the similar sound. If most groups do it, kpop would be BORING. We just need that ONE group that give us such sounds.
