3. Cupid (Twin ver.) charting better internationally is not embarrassing to koreans, specially when it's a single entirely in english, which means focused on international success.

Kitsch charting well does convince me that Koreans don't mind disjointed music when it's coming from a certain source, but it seems some people actually like the song.

Another thing, IVE is the top GG right now, which means they have a larger reach than any other GG. People are more likely to check out the song right away instead of waiting on word of mouth, and the more people check it out, the more it's likely to reach it's target audience of people who enjoy music like that.

I'm not surprised IVE hit #1, but I will be surprised if "Kitsch" has longevity tbh.

I think that depends.

I found Savage to be very weird, and to me "Kitsch" is noise. So, it's a bit subjective.

I was surprised about Savage doing well too, but it was highly anticipated because it was NL's successor. Aespa were still SK darlings during that time. It's possible Kitsch is doing well for the same reason. If Starship brings another "weird' song for Ive standards, this success on charts might not stay for too long. Only time will tell.
