how fast can you usually determine if a song is good or not on the first listen?

Usually one listen is enough. . And I may find a song good but if I'm too lazy or come to that conclusion late enough so I cannot see who's singing it, I don't bother looking for it either.

Usually by the time the second chorus runs through I can decide if its BAD. If I decide it's bad at that point it's done for me and I won't bother again. Bad of course being subjective and based on my own tastes, but stuff from NMIXX and kep1er has always fallen here really easy.

Something that is an immediate red flag for a bad song is if I pause the song during mid first listen to do something else. That usually means its a boring song.

If I'm still undecided I'll probably give it another few listens, maybe not straight away and usually in another medium, eg just the song, no MV. Usually during a drive as well. New Jeans for me has more often than not fit here.

Some songs just hit right right away though.

I need to listen to it fully at first, other than some rare exceptions, I never felt like I liked any song before the song hits the last chorus.

i would wait until the first chorus. also wait for a quiet place to really listen to the song don't trust my first listen much

I listen 99% of the times to the full song, but if I don't like it I will not give it a second chance.

The 1% it's when the song is so annoying or boring that I either shut it fown or fall asleep lol.

Songs definitely grow on me. Songs can go from a 5 to a 10, like Impurities is fixing to do. This usually requires something big though and for me, it was the MV and Inkigayo performance video that made me listen to it over and over again.

Even Attendant and Hybe Boy went from a 2 or 3 to a 7 out of 10 after being exposed to so many performances, i couldnt escape them omg.

but if the songs start off with weird loud banging instrumentals then, more often than not, maybe then i probably wont lol

It depends. For some songs I know straight from the start that I’m gonna love it. Some songs takes me time to realize that I like something in there.

Like Txts Way Home. I was like oh good but nothing special. Then one day I realized that the song somehow has an unsettling feeling but couldn’t work out why until I concentrated the instrumental instead of the whole song. Now it’s one of my fav song from them. Or Rollercoaster. I never realized how fitting that title is until they made an actual dance practice for it and I realized it’s really up and down when you listen. That song is pure happiness for me.
