why kakao only became relevant to kpop fans now that ive is massive?

  • kakao was never really considered part of the kpop talk like big4 are until ive despite we heard it's name everywhere before that. before ive, loen/edam was iu's company, and starship was sistar and monsta x's company, etc (idek the boyz and weeekly's company, i didnt even know they were from kakao before ive)

if ive really is a kakao group and therefore more privileged than every other group from big4, then it's safe to say ive are paving the way for other kakao groups as they're the first to reach a success this big, in sales and international popularity. they also paved the way for produce groups, as they are the first to break the produce curse and are also currently the most successful that came out of it.

in short ive are truly the goat for making one of the most powerful companies in korea only look really powerful and guaranteed success for trainees after they debuted.

    Easy answer.

Kakao never seemed to matter much until the investigative journalism by major Korean newspapers found Kakao's marketing team had hidden control of a major Idol page in Korea (the biggest, literally) and was using it to astroturf IVE hard and denigrate other competitors.

Until then Kakao mostly seemed hands off - but now it's clear the parent company is very much interested and directly doing things to elevate the labels under them.

    So, simple as that.

  • idk if they can match monsta x's touring stats but this is true for other factors

they are the number 1 kakao grp, a kakao grp has never charted like this internationally

for now yes. im a fan of both but i'm pretty sure ive will have a much bigger start than mx had in their 1st ww tour in early 2017. i think ive can even do tokyo dome in the future before mx.

  • I had no idea people considered the companies under kakao are like one big group. I don't consider it still cause I feel like IST entertainment (??? They keep changing their name it's so annoying), starship, and edam have their own vibe and creativity if that makes sense. Like hybe's sub labels are feel connected and kakao just...don't

I dont know about other kakao groups, but starship is literally an independent subsidiary. i think they lump all kakao groups together out of willing ignorance.

kakao have multiple fields, while hybe obviously have only 1 main focus which is the kpop industry. the differences in the description should tell enough

  • Wut? I've been talking about how huge Kakao is from like last year lol. So have others like Whyknock and Bartkun. They are ginormous, market cap of 25 trillion won, 5x larger than Hybe and larger than all the Big 4 put together, maybe larger than all the Kpop companies put together.

  • tell me you weren't here before the kakao scandal without telling me you weren't here before the kakao scandal: challenge accepted and completed. congrats

  • trust me, no ones' talking about kakao that much. They don't even have their own company channel. I guess you are just spending too much time on twitter. Even if they did, it's not even a kpop company so it won't be building company stans.

  • Oh my god shut up for once go talk about the disbanded group :cryingr:
