if the criteria is completely arbitrarily made up then isn’t that proving op’s point that mama could’ve shifted the criteria or made up some other award that could’ve acknowledged nj’s hugely successful debut too? It’s not like that “1m sales award” is completely set in stone lol mama has the power to do whatever they want so the fact that mama didn’t do anything else to include nj is what op meant by doing them dirty. At the end of the day nj didn’t win anything while kepler and nmixx won sth, and both didn’t really compare with nj’s impact with their debut alone, so when a person not savvy about all this stuff looks at the winning list it will stand out as a question mark for them

Not really? It was such a competitive year so no one was really done “dirty”. It came down to the sales. Which has always been the case with MAMA.
As for Kepler’s win lol. I mean it’s just a made up award to give to their group so like I don’t think getting that would have even meant anything for new jeans.

yeah this was the easiest no brainer solution ever. Idk why these damn award shows are so allergic to giving an award to more than 1 group lol, especially when it’s not a daesang like this one and isn’t as contested as the main awards. The criteria mama made up for it is “rookie passing 1m sales”. It definitely is an add on award for this year only lol it never existed before. Which is why it’s even dumber that mama couldn’t make up sth else or shift the criteria so that nj could be acknowledged for their crazy achievements too but oh well nobody ever accused mama of having functioning brains
