his perf was good and thats what matters

On its own? Don't wholely disagree. But I would be lying if I don't love it as a world cup song. It's really good and captures the emotions of such a giant event pretty well imo

i think the song is pretty nice and he sells it. i thought the song was average at first but when i saw the performance it grew on me instantly. he has great vocals.

but ultimately all world cup songs use the same formulas and gimmicks, so they end up sounding pretty same-y and "mid". with waka waka and its impact being the exception ofc.

so boring and snoring that it got your attention and a whole thread was made on it

That’s why context is important. A song like this on its own will sound like a simple track but in sports, it’s these simple chanty sounds that sells. If you make a fifa cup song that no one can easily sing along, it already failed its job

Also I love how the Saudi locals are relating to the song so much and using it on tiktok. The match was marvelous, best game of the season imo. Until another upset happens. They deserved that win. Their keeper was insanely good too

So should I assume that you went through all the world cup anthems for comparison starting from 1962 before you made that conclusion about calling it the "most mid wc ever"? Or did you just pull it out of your ass?

I guess we may never get to listen to your faves wc "noise", at any time soon, so I can't make a proper judgment. In hindsight, it would be to the world's advantage to keep that noise within the fandom.

Mid? Sure. But ever? That’s very much not true lol. We haven’t had a good World Cup song since 2010 when waka waka and waving flag were released. After that was Pitbull and JLo’s we are one, which did not have the same impact. I don’t even remember anything from 2018. When the bar is this low, even Dreamers sounds great. At least it has the football\World Cup spirit the other songs( with the exception of hayya hayya and maybe the Arhbo song) this year can barely claim.

It is not the worst song I have heard

It’s not bad music but it’s not memorable. But I think 2010 was the last time we had a truly hype WC song with waka waka and wavin flag. Before that I guess only cup of life was memorable.

Why are we acting la la la wasn’t a mega hit not on Wk wk level and we are the one is a great song.
