maybe someone with the knowledge can take say the debuts ages (international) from each year and come compare them

I think it really just depends on when you come into Kpop. Because if you come into Kpop now and see NCT 127, they look like grown ass men.

So when a new group comes in looking young, you think “oh they’ve gotten younger.” But groups haven’t, it’s just your perception of them.

Because if you look at when NCT debuted, they look just as young as the babies now. Jaehyun is 18 here but the dude looks 15, fr. Doyoung is 19.

These two are actually 19 and 20 at this point, but look like kids.

Similarly, if you look at SNSD at their debut, they look 12. 😂 Baby SNSD don’t look any older than current 4th Gen gg. Our perspective is just skewed by time. Taeyeon, Sooyoung and Seohyun look like members of New Jeans. For reference, they are 18, 16 and 17 here. They look 12 to me. LOL

Here’s BAP, who were mentioned above, just styled differently, also at debut. They still look pretty young to me.

Tell me again how male idols didn’t used to be baby faced, boyish and young looking at debut. LOL

(2 PM did look grown from jump tho, you’re right on that one.)

But fundamentally, I think sometimes your view of “younger” is shaded by the ages of the groups you came in on.

Previous generation also has younger idol debut too like Boa, IU, Taemin, Krystal, Minzy, JK and I'm sure many more that I don't know about....

I think nowadays younger/fresher styling/concept/looks is just more preferable....

Wow! Almost all of these groups' members are apart of Generation Z (1997-2012). Except for the oldest members of Kep1er.
