I’d argue that the age span idols debut have gotten narrower. There aren’t as many extremely young idols debuting (tho they still exist) but there’s also less idols debuting in their late/mid twenties.

Xdinary Heroes and Tempest are the two biggest rookie groups this year and neither look particularly young. But aggressive boy group concepts haven’t really been popular for a couple of years. The soft pastel colours might make them look younger I suppose

for reference TNX debuted this year with aggressive concept they are 02 - 05 liners but they look like straight outta kindergarden next to bap, on average Nuest would even be younger than TNX if debuted today but looking at their debut they look older. I don't know if its edgy styling that was in 2nd gen made these idols look older or its because we have no more masculine boygroups

Maybe for the BG’s. GG’s actually don’t age that fast. Look at Lisa and Jennie, without make up they often could pass as high schoolers, whereas the boys start to look more masculine from 20 up going.
