I hold that soloists from the popular groups will not perform to the hype surrounding their groups.
The only person to transcend that, away from the shadow of her group has been Taeyeon.
Initial reports of both Nayeon and J-hope are underwhelming
The excuse being given for J-hope, is that he took a new direction that public doesn't like.
But Nayeon served the typical K-pop sounds, yet.
K-pop is a group sport, it takes an exceptional soloist to succeed amidst that and the space for that is very limited.
With solos, Koreans tend to prefer trot and other genres than Kpop.
In K-pop,It is worse for male soloists than female.

1. Do they match the success of their own groups?
2. If their group was one of the top 3/5 groups, then are they as a soloists, one of the top 3/5 soloists?
I am sure any soloist from a popular group will sell a lot. But they aren't measured against the average.
They should be measured against their own group and then the top tier soloist.
Another condition I would add,
Better to wait till they have put some distance from their group peak. Otherwise the reception will be distorted.
Does Baekhyun meet the above?

1. EXO became the first group in 16 years to sell 1 million with a single album and Baekhyun became the first solo artist in 19 years to pass a million copies since 2001. He's the only other artist than Seo Taiji to sell over a million copies of a group album and solo album.
2. He is definitely one of the top 3/5 soloists in kpop. Taeyeon sold the most albums as a female soloist and Baek sold the most as a male from 2011 to 2021. Overall, he's sold the most of any solo artist over that time period. He topped the Gaon chart with Suzy on Dream, reached #2 with Soyou on Rain, reached #4 with Candy and has 7 other top 20 songs (a combo of singles, OSTs and duets). (I'm too lazy to look up Melon rn)
3. Not sure how much distance you want. EXO's last album prior to his solo releases was 2019 (and you could argue their peak was a year before that). (DFTF came out several months after his third Korean album). He became a million seller with one album in 2020 and again with an album in 2021. (FWIW, his first release did not sell a million, although it was released the same year as an EXO release in 2019).

What about digitals?
Generally group fandoms will ensure good physical sales. But soloists mostly succeed in the digitals.
Anyway, I will look forward to see if he succeeds in a post-EXO solo career over time
