Overall career it's not even close. Twice was much bigger in sk at aespa's age
Twice are bigger not because of their Korean digital domination or relevance. For me a big 3 GG having Korean hits is actually not enough for the conversation about being a top group. In all likelihood this is the metrics that’s going to be easiest for a hit gg to catch up to.
So it’s no use bringing that up and that actually leaves ppl to downplay twice. Even if aespa or ive or whomever even if they have multiple back to back hits unless they can fill those stadiums, it doesn’t really actually matter.

But make no mistake, the Third Age of Kpop is ending, it's only a matter of time. The last Lion Kings just went down the past couple weeks, the final nail in the coffin.
The last holdouts, the last warhorses of the Third Age, are probably gonna rally over the next year or two to make one last defiant stand. Not as a combined Army, no, they're sending out their individual champions one by one this time. Seulgi, Jhope, and the one most relevant here...Nayeon. If she can outchart Aespa by herself...

If it's about touring why are you even comparing the two groups? Twice has a very successful tour this year itself while aespa won't tour and it'll come no where close to current Twice or maybe even when twice was younger
Twice did rise to stardom through cheer up becoming massive in sk? And no not all ggs reach that level in sk even if they are from big3. Also twice is big in Japan, songs, album sales and tours. Even on international streaming much bigger so the comparison is off.

Korea always likes the newer trendy GG. Even aespa will be overtaken there tomorrow kekeke.
But markets like NA and Japan that’s where the eyes are when it comes to tours. China is good for album sales but it doesn’t allow for touring so it’s not as viable an option as the others.

No they haven't. The only girlgroup who is a competitor to Twice is Blackpink and that didn't change. Twice has a legacy which isn't easy to put down. Years of popularity, years of being the top girlgroup and a girlgroup which debuted 2020 with only few releases should change that? no way. Aespa is great and I love them so much but let's be realistic. You can't surpass a group with millions of records in two years. No way.
I don't like these threads. It is unfair to aespa who don't have anywhere near the time Twice had to show their full potential, and almost a insult to Twice, who spent years building what they have now.

I remember in 2016 when people would make this same argument except Twice was Aespa and SNSD was Twice. The answer is the same, it is way to soon to be comparing these groups at all.

Exactly, in fact I cant name a time when Ive seen any genuine MYs here say this or come at Twice. it's mostly just Twice antis.
In fact the only person who voted 'Yes' is a famous Twice hater and not a Aespa fan at all. A person that used to cosplay as a Once in the past. These are the type of users making the threads in anon I'm convinced, not actual Aespa stans.

Btw I’m not saying aespa won’t ever be able to do this…. But imo these discussions without a sizable tour is quite insulting to twice.
EXO is only group (aside from maybe produce groups) who had huge tours in their 2nd year
We will see how well AESPA will do once they start touring, their Japanese showcase had 400k pre applications which is crazy.
What AESPA is missing but Twice has is 7 years of successful career and bigger legacy

long answer: what are the criteria one is using in order to judge whether one group has "surpassed" another
ie the metrics and the weighting of such metrics
just one example would be lets say Korean Charting - are we looking at total goan numbers? goan numbers/no. of songs? twice @ year [x] vs. aespa @ year [x] etc etc

the answer is no and we will see if they can reach Twice status, if we compare their early days Twice still did better because while Cheer Up/NL were huge hits the follow up TT did much much better than Savage.
