Spotify is where it's at. More people listen to music on spotify anyway so that automatically makes it a better representation of popularity for every artist.
The shift to Spotify and Apple Music when counting towards charts and driving radio play means that YT view don't really do much for artists.
Let's be honest here, they get pretty much nothing from an M/V unless it's at least over 500 mil.
And even then it's pretty much nothing. Plenty of Youtubers made videos about it.

do you mean like the efforts from fans have reduced despite its importance? i do wonder if ads made fans less interested to stream the songs. the best thing would be equal attention on all platforms but seeing how some platforms aren't available or accessible that would be difficult too i guess.
Because a couple of years ago kpop groups kept beating records every second day. BP, Twice, BTS and sometimes EXO would constantly beat each others records everytime they had a comeback and at the same time set new ones for the kpop community as a whole.
That doesn't happen anymore. Dux4 is still the most viewed kpop mv and it was released in 2018. And no group can really compete with BTS and BP in terms of views.
Usually it's newer fandoms fighting over stuff like views but since they are still so far behind BP, BTS and are just starting to catch up with Twice it's not a very fun topic to compete over.

I think the new YouTube weekly charts changed the game of yt views. We can see kpop mvs with like 50M weekly yt views but without ads the real number it's only 10M views for example.

i think i can recall the chart now, i have personally visited the yt metric chart that shows views and % of it being real and ads. i do hope music shows use the metric when calculating otherwise it is kinda weird

This is half true but before kpop fans yet used to make up records for ggs, 4th gen etc
For example lists of yt views in the first 24 hours for 4th gen bg, gg etc even likes on an mv

ohh thats because some 4th gen grps do better than most non bts/bp/twice/exo third gen grps
but those "some" grps are like less than 10 grps
i dont think any other 4th gen grp is doing well on spotify
eg .- txt, skz, enhypen, ive itzy, gidle used to do well because of k/da, aespa (?), treasure (?) ateez(?)

Threads about YouTube views were on a daily basis and having high YouTube views was almost a relevant metric for groups success in the past.
