I agree, this is actually true. Comments on places like Panchoa and Netizenbuzz don't represent the general audience. Most Netizens don't even know about everything or not everyone cares about the past of idols.

people forget that we only see the comments of Korean K-Pop fans, they don't represent the general audience anymore than we probably do. Perhaps less so since multistanning isn't as much of a thing in Korea as it is here, so you mainly have very dedicated fans posting either to praise their fave group or to drag a competitor.

It's a shitfest in the comments, both Korean and English, for Chaewon's new "sexy" look. But we all know Pann and Nate and whatever are worthless when it comes to determining a group's popularity, especially a GG.

What matters the most to this group at least in the beginning is whether Ssamkura stans and Wizones end up accepting this new look. There could be some that wont accept seeing the perennially cute Chaewon, who is tailor made for the cute concept like Sana or Arin, being turned into more of a sex symbol, or as close to a sex symbol as Kpop can get these days. This includes uncle Wizones and solo stans who have weird fetishes to keep girls looking and acting 16 forever, and even some female Wizones and stans who might think this change up is too focused on the "male gaze" or whatever.

And then we need to see if the Korean GP welcomes their debut song like they did for Ive, which was fueled mostly by Wonyoung's growing status in Korea.

Personally, i never cared what concept she came back as. As long as she gets the success she has earned, and becomes as big as Yena, Yuri, Yujin, etc, that's all that matters to me.
