Do you think you fit the stereotype of a kpop fan?

  • There are many stereotypes that people have of kpop fans so do you think you fit any of them or any of them apply to you?

For me, I think the stereotype that kpop fans take kpop too seriously probably applies to me because if any of y'all insult my faves then... :pepe-cut:

  • No. I don’t consider myself obsessive, toxic or delusional so I don’t fit the mould. I am more of a silent casual fan who enjoys my bias groups without going apeshit about them. Plus I’m in a rare category by being a mature age fan, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  • what are the stereotypes?

If you're a female kpop fan, you're a teenager with low self esteem issues and can't get a bf.

If you're a male kpop fan, you're a creepy man that can't get a gf.

    Stereotypes for everyone:

-too sensitive, can't talk jokes or any form of criticism

    -koreoboos

-only likes kpop because idols are attractive

There's lots of stereotypes out there but these are the ones I hear on a regular basis.

  • I care at some point about the hate my faves get so majority of the time I do"protect" them online knowing full well they will never see the fights kkkk

I'm not a teenager neither do I have traumas.

    I'm pretty.

I'm intelligent enough to not make racist jokes (which is one of the main complaints people have against Kpop fans as racist jokes seem funny to them and it is still a popular thing <X )

    I'm a chill/funny person irl and i have friends

I'm not obsessed with Kpop visuals as i have crushes of almost all nationalities :pepe-use-head: kkkkkk

  • I fit the stereotype of an uncle fan. I'm old, straight, single, and male. It's been like a year since i went on a date (basically living like a hermit due to Covid), although i have one coming up soon wish me luck lol. I never watch BG content, only listen to their songs, while i binge watch GG content and stan GGs for their personalities/visuals/team chemistry and not even necessarily for their music.

I dont really follow charts though, dont really care about em, so that's good i guess.

good luck on ur date :pepe-excited:

  • Im below 25. Im okay looking, not fat (below 50kg). I dont go crazy over KPOP. I can take a joke. I couldnt care less about their visuals. Who am I to judge their visuals. They are all definitely more good looking than me. A clown would judge idols looks.

  • I don't understand how akgaes even exist. I like Kpop groups because of their teamwork in their performances and how each members would have different charm. That's why I never really have a bias or ultimate bias. Yes, maybe sometimes I get to know a group because of one member and I would follow that member at first, but once I get to know everyone I always end up liking everyone. But if I can't like everyone in the group, then I don't see myself continue following that group in the future.

  • I doubt it.

I’m pushing 40, have been married for (*counts*) twelve years, my husband is almost as much of an ARMY as I am. I’m not going to comment on whether or not I am attractive as that is daft and entirely subjective. I am extremely highly-educated (I know many other k-pop fans are, but I am also aware that some people find this to be a weird dichotomy). I live in a veeeeeery white upper middle-class suburban small English town with virtually no Asian representation around. I listen to a hugely diverse range of music, and always have. I am in an Opera company. blah blah. If you wanted, you could suggest that the fact I don’t have kids means that I have areas lacking in my life and seek to fill them, but that would be a pretty misogynistic view IMO.

There are, of course, as in any fandom, going to be people that fit the stereotypical viewpoint, but categorising a MASSIVE number of people like that is lazy at best, and irritatingly superior.

  • Well,

I am not creepy and I got a GF... So guess what I am not like others then :-)

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.

  • Yes, I want my faves to date and I will never boycott them just because they're dating ( even if there dating BP members😁), and their sexual orientation doesn't matter to me one bit.

And, who cares if one of my faves is secretly married? Will still fully support.

  • Probably for chart I really enjoy looking at the chart and reading analysis especially from the digital threads.

The rest I'm not really I'm just a casual kpop fan and I dont really engage with the fandom or haters.

Oh I forgot to add this :)

My only sadness will come the day they disband :(

  • I absolutely despise charts. They're the root of all evil among K-pop fans. ;(

    So in that regard, no.

I agree chart obsession is probably one of the worst things about kpop fans and this stereotype fits many fans. The moment someone starts introducing charts in a convo, I just pretend that person doesn't exist :pepe-cross:

I appreciate the honesty lol. Good luck on your date! Also, do you tell people you're a fan of kpop or do you not disclose that?

  • Maybe the stereotype that I will defend my faves, but only to a point. If you're just straight up bashing with no intent of stopping, I'll give up and let you be angry.

Other than that, if you saw me in public, you'd probably never be able to guess.

    Is he.....you know?
