If not, would you want to get one in the future?
I will probably get one at some point, but I think even then, I would prefer biking.

No...I still need to get my permit and I failed the first two times. Maybe next time will be the one I make it.
Oof... Yeah hopefully third times the charm then! When are you set to take it again?
yes i have one
and it completely change my life , life is so much fun when you have a car to go anywhere
Yep. Unfortunately I live in a place with pretty bad public transportation.

Me too and thank you
I'm allowed to take it tomorrow since it's 5 days between testing after failing but I might wait a bit since I for sure don't want to fail this time. I was so very close last time.
Yeah. But driving is still kinds scary to me even though I got my permit two years ago and my license a year ago

yeah for sure. if you were really close, that's a good sign. It's not a bad idea to take time to prepare yourself if you need to either. Best of luck!

Driving is just something that takes practice. I've been driving for so long that it's almost second nature now.
In fact the scarier part now is when I drive somewhere, get to my destination, and then realize I don't remember anything about the drive at all. I can just go into auto-pilot while driving sometimes.

Ahh I take it you don't drive often? I've been driving my dad's car every week to get to work, so I couldn't imagine being scared every time I hopped in the car.

I live right next to a highway which is super busy everyday so there's a lot more danger when I drive. I would take routes with less busy roads but I work at Doordash so the order doesn't get to it's house quick enough that way.
nope. tmi but due to epilepsy i cannot drive. public transportation here is good so i'm covered :)

Ahh yeah gotcha. Being scared then is justified.
I have family in Hyderbad, India, so I have visited there a few times, and that area is super chaotic with traffic. The drivers there just swerve around, and give no fucks whatsoever. Completely different from my experience in the U.S. I couldn't imagine driving in areas like that.

I've heard weird things about the roads in India. Like one time my friend was visiting and she was stuck in traffic for 2 hours because a ton of chickens decided to hang out on the road and nobody did anything until they left.

Something about that is kind of cute because chicken respect, but oof two hours though damn.
Some areas are worse than others. Like, the more smoggy places suck because you can't see shit, and.... yeah lot's of accidents in those places.
My suburban hell is pretty much impossible to live in without a car
My city has the most highway miles per capita in the US so you bet your ass the sprawl is too real to not have a car.
having a car is a must in australia...

Really? I’d imagine the public transit is good in Sydney and Melbourne’s CBD.
yep i have one
before buying it, i used to WASTE 3 hours on public transport every day
now i have a car but i also work from home

I have my basic ass Nissan Versa but I paid it off and it's all 100% mine and I wouldn't have it either way

oof that's tragic.
Well, at least you're not out there wasting gas, and you can use to travel to other places (i.e grocery stores).
Full size Van and a Sedan. Mostly use Public transportation and a Scooter.

it probably is but I'm from the burbs in WA on the other side of Australia lol
and public transport whilst is very good - you still need a car...especially with a kid

Keaji can't believe that such kids can get a license in Usa!
Yes, I do have a car.
It's hard to live without a car here if you don't live in a capital or something.

It's not technically a license, just a driver's permit (drive with supervision with an adult over age 21 with a valid driver's license). In my state, you have to be at least 14 but I know in some states you have to be at least 15 to get one. You get your intermediate driver's license at 16 (drive without supervision) and your actual driver's license at 18.

Wow, in keaji's place you can get driver's permit with 16 and drive without supervision with 18. But almost no one does it with 16, since a person can't drive alone at this age and that's not convenient.
Oh, rainbow sees...wow...that's a big difference
Yes. I got an electric car last year and it came with free supercharging for a year and it's been awesome. It's gonna expire this month though, so I'm gonna have to start paying to charge.

Ohhh that's so cool! Electric cars have always interested me. What kind of car do you have?

Tesla M3. We have a federal government incentive for electric cars under a certain amount, so I got $5000 off the price (could have gotten more, but our provincial incentive was removed before I placed my order bc politics). Plus it came with a promo of a year of free supercharging at the time, so I haven't paid at all for my usage. If you give/get a referral, you can also get 6 months free supercharging.
The only issue is I can't charge at home (I live in a condo w/ no charging station), but the dealership isn't far from my house, and there are free public chargers all over the city. One of my coworkers also said she's seen people plug their cars into the pillars of our parking lot (there are regular outlets there), so I'm thinking I could probably do the same too while I'm at work.
So it really depends on the charger infrastructure of your city if charging at home isn't an option.
