Changed the title of the thread from “Aespa is the fastest 4th Gen Group to chart in Billboard Japan Hot 100” to “Aespa is the fastest 4th Gen Group to chart in Billboard Japan”.
  • You shouldn't set Aespa up like that. Because.

    No. They aren't.

While it is a awesome achievement to chart on the top 100 of any country and one especially that is important to KPOP as Japan is they are not the fastest 4th Gen spot. That belongs to other groups. See examples below

IZ*ONE charted at #67 Seventeen days after debut. See "https://www.billboard-japan.com/charts/detail?a=dlsongs&year=2018&month=11&day=12"

ITZY charted at #41 Eight days after debut. See "https://www.billboard-japan.com/charts/detail?a=dlsongs&year=2019&month=02&day=25"

And ITZY isn't even the fastest JYP group by a long shot. The fastest JYP girl group is NiziU (yes I know they are Japanese). And they charted at #2/#17/#30/#35 after only -147 days. (The negative number and 4 different songs charting at the same time is not a typo and no one is going to beat that.)

I'm not trying to downgrade Aespa's achievments because it is good but don't embellish on what that Twitter statement posted because it didn't post that.

  • at least use the right info -_-

the proof you posted are about download song -_-

the tweet i posted never said they are the fastest in the download chart

but it says that they are the fastest on Billboard Japan Hot 100

  • Other 4th gen groups have charted on the Japan hot 100 faster
TXT, Enhypen, Treasure all charted with their debut songs

  • The Twitter post was download songs.

BUT okay. Billboard Japan hot 100 was exactly the same just different placings.

ITZY #31 on the same date Feb 20th 2019. "https://www.billboard-japan.com/charts/detail?a=hot100&year=2019&month=02&day=25"

    IZ*ONE #22 on the same date Oct 12 2018. "https://www.billboard-japan.com/charts/detail?a=hot100&year=2018&month=11&day=12"

NiziU #2/#14/#15/#19 also on the same day "https://www.billboard-japan.com/charts/detail?a=hot100&year=2020&month=07&day=13". They debuted in Dec 2 later that year.

  • There's nothing to prove using NiziU, a whole Japanese group backed by Sony lol.

I usually don't include them if they mention KPOP group. Yes I know it's a KPOP section but I too often see people in the KPOP section that honestly think their group are absolute Giants in Japan not knowing what Kaiju are over there. Also some in the Japanese section refuse to mention them as they say they are KPOP. I think they are JPOP and most others do but not all by any means. But yea they were probably one of the best promoted and hyped Girl Groups in recent memory in Japan. Promoted to a level only envisioned in some KPOP fans wet dreams and it really paid off. Even many of the girls that didn't make it are celebrities to some extent now. Sony/NHTV/Hulu really went to the mat and it showed.

  • I had no idea this many rookies groups debut in japan hot100 at debut v:

It is only recently and some names would surprise you who didn't. Blackpink for one. KPOP has had a bit of a revival in the last 2 to 3 years though in Japan. The traditional big groups in Japan have also come in for change so different groups have been able to get in. Right now interest in Korean groups are on the rise in Japan and this has helped. Aespa has done an excellent job getting in even without a push from their big name counterparts of SNSD or RV. They do get a boost from BoA and TVXQ but the generational gap between those artists and Aespa is so enormous that I doubt it was much of a push. So I'm inclined to think they got in with their own merits. The YG groups get a bit of help since they have Japanese members and Enhypen has both that and Big Hit which is at the very top in streaming with BTS (no they don't OWN IT) thanks mainly to Dynamite actually. Their Korean/English songs do way better than their Japanese releases in fact. TxT as well. I mean it helps to have the biggest group around backing you up. So this was a great achievement by Aespa.

yep, seem mostly 4gen groups, izone, enhypen and treasure make sense bc they all have japanese members, had shows before debut and were pretty hyped

itzy is suprising as I didn't expect their music to resonate with japan public at all btw

bp debut was all the way back in 2016 and yg has never put effort for them in japan

  • idk about the jpn charts but lmao the Niziu one, a whole japanese group, is like comparing the charting of aespa and niziu in Korea
