Not really. There have been gg songs that became a hit that weren't that much better than a lot of bg songs.

Nah, it has always been like this in kpop: ggs are driven by gp and bgs are driven by fandom. It's just that nowadays with current chart organization there are not many boy groups with big enough fandom to carry them on on charts, while ggs still have their gp. There are, of course, exceptions tho, like said BTS who have both gp and fandom.

I think it's not about quality specifically, but about the song. In my opinion there are no BG's right now that have a song that GP likes.
If they release smth like what BTS/BB/BTOB/BLOCKB/BEAST other kinda "old" bg's were/are releasing maybe yes, but nowadays it's only about performance/dance. They have this kinda 'standard' music, not relaxing/soft/public friendly, the songs are intense with these choreos, raps, noises (sorry to say this).
For me there is no BG for now in kpop that I can like (except for the old ones bts/bb/exo etc). I've listened to many (stray kids/svt/nct/txt/mcdn/astro/ateez/oneus etc) and I can say that none of them attracted me and Believe me I've listened almost all of their titles, but kinda empty feeling, nothing. the only song I like from these new generations is oneus - the song written easily - I think it's called like that, such a good song!!! easy/soft/cool/fun.

If you've noticed intense songs are not for GP, that's why BB/BTS will still rock it with their music (maybe exo too).

edit: I'll add smth: that's why WINNER & IKON were successful from the very start (remind you bling bling flopped for the same reason imo)

about dddd, I'd say it's smth that BG's release maybe yeah, but a lot more sophisticated musically than them. The production is very quality even if it has a drop

edit: BG music back in the days were doing very well (BEAST/BLOCKB/BTOB/BB/2PM/ etc) so what you say is kinda irrelevant

Music that charts is always considered trashy and low quality because it’s liked by a broader group of ppl and music that has a niche following is considered “quality”

So like if anything GGs have trashy music that appeals to a broader audience and BGs don’t according to that definition.

Anyway I also think BG music isn’t good. Esp now a days but there is ALSO bias against it. Both are true so that’s why BGs can’t chart at all. When at least before they were able to chart a bit and have some hits because of their fandoms. Now a days BGs have neither a big fandom nor big GP support in Korea.

Lbr id stray kids released hylt it would’ve tanked like no other.. gp likes ggs and female idols way more. There is a reason why we have tons of it girls and one it boy once in a blue moon

GGs have hits and flops based on the song. And BG won’t have hits no matter how good the song is. Hence proving the OP wrong.

If BGs had one or two hits and other flops this argument would hold true tbh. It’s not that BGs have lesser hits than GGs. It’s that they have NO hits. And they will never be able to chart because no one is listening to them.
