As the practitioner of positivity and peace in this forum, I will now focus on good vibes threads for the rest of the hour.
Up first is who's your fav among your favs and why?
I'm actually OT# for my two favorite girl groups, but instead of copping out I will write why I stan each member as if they were my favs
Solar - She is the type of idol who lifts the energy of any room she walks in, and then she lifts you to heaven with her incredible vocals. The biggest goofball but somehow the ultimate perfectionist. Her passion and gratitude for her craft and career are palpable in everything she does. My favorite Pretty Fool
Moonbyul - The ultimate lady killing Princess Charming. In a group where the amazing vocalists could have easily overshadowed her, she has always stood out with her tone and creative weaving of raps early in her career, and later she proved she always belonged as a vocalist too. The love she gives her fiercely loyal fans is second to none. And my interactions with her have always been the most memorable.
Wheein - The low-key biggest crackhead in the group. The heart and soul of the beagle energy Mamamoo became infamous for, but also the ACE. There isn't anything she can't do, and I love her solo music the most by a considerable margin. Her voice is just so damn incredible. Like I've been saying for a decade, once you Wheein, you can't Wheeout. She is such a lovable, chaotic puppy
Hwasa - Queen. Diva. Maknae on top. The damn exclamation point of the group that brings everything together. She is such an indomitable force on stage, but a total sweetheart and baby when she's off stage. Pair her with her middle school bestie, Wheein, and you'll have more belly laughs than if you attended a comic show. I also love how she never caved into the suffocating Korean beauty standards and became a top celebrity being her authentic self. See you in a couple months at KCON perhaps, Queen.
Minji - I don't know how many times I've wondered "Uh, Minji, are you okay?", because behind her overwhelming visuals is the ultimate dork of NewJeans, often leaving the other members bewildered and endlessly entertained by her...moments. But the love she gives to her fans is unreal. A 4 hour live stream on Phoning? And she already did a live stream every other day it felt like? How can you not stan someone who gives so much of their time to their fans?
Hanni - The ultimate stan attractor, and it's not hard to see why. She's relatable with an approachable girl next door vibe despite being the ACE of the group. Legitimately one of the most authentic and endearing idols I've seen. She almost streamed as much as Minji and has probably uploaded two dozen song covers. She just has an It Factor few idols possess. She's also a great storyteller. I could listen to NJ's certified yapper talk all day about any random topic.
Danielle - Dani is without question the biggest ray of sunshine I've seen in any group. Her positivity is absolutely infectious. She feels like a Disney Princess, which is why it's no surprise she was cast as Ariel to sing the iconic Little Mermaid song. How could you not stan someone who stays so positive and upbeat in a profession that's well known for draining both? She is the very definition of a Happiness Virus member. You can get all the Vitamin D you need just from Dani's uplifting energy.
Haerin - Perhaps the most introverted idol I've ever seen debut. And I've always loved that OG ADOR never forced her to be someone she's not comfortable with being. Watching her naturally open up and her confidence grow with each stage has been so wholesome. Never one to speak unless she has something of value to add, but yaps even more than Hanni when it's a topic she cares about, like scary stories or frogs. The quiet but essential anchor of the group. Almost every NJ chorus is at kicked off by Haerin
Hyein - She dealt with so much BS for her age, but she's literally the most experienced member in the group, having been a child idol. She has crackhead energy that can surpass Minji's, and she has the most potential in the group--something IU noticed immediately before featuring her on her album. Haerin gets a lot of choruses, but Hyein gets a lot of killing parts and NOBODY nails that Y2K aesthetic like her. If Haerin is the anchor, Hyein is the glue. That zero promo debut? SHE made that decision. There are so many reasons to stan this burgeoning superstar.
Phew. It's not easy being OT4/OT5
