These are the best 3 song runs in K-Pop History based on my factual opinion

  • Do you agree with my selection? 10

    1. Absolutely not. Turn in your Chef's Hat and get out the kitchen (7) 70%
    2. Yes, you cooked and ate (3) 30%

This will be short and sweet, as I'm not in a mood to muster any thorough think pieces today.

All right, let's get started with what are, in my infallible opinion, the greatest 3 song runs in K-Pop history.

First up is none other than Kara's crazy combo of Mister/Lupin/Step, 3 of the greatest K-Pop songs ever produced. Choosing a favorite from these 3 is nigh impossible.

I don't think it gets any better. When I think of pop perfection in its purest form, I think of any of these 3 songs. Those choruses are simply some of the most iconic hooks ever.

Next up is a group that may surprise some but not for anyone who was around for their electric debut in 2016. It's a group with a lineup you almost never see--a co-ed group.

    That's right. Kard.

They had one of the best starts to a career in terms of pure song quality that I've seen maybe ever, at least until another group I'll list later made their debut.

    Oh NaNa/Don't Recall/Rumor

KARD never hit it big in the mainstream, but the quality and impact of these songs alone were enough to build them a strong enough fanbase, especially in LATAM, to sustain themselves till now. They had everyone twerking to one of the strongest starts to a discography ever

Next up is probably the most predictable entry, but also one of the most deserving. You know who it is.

    NewJeans with Attention/Hype Boy/Ditto

We know the numbers. We know the industry impact. We know the insane quality of the songs themselves and the cinematic experience of their accompanying MVs. The term "instant classic" was coined for songs like these, and they made NewJeans the face of K-Pop.

People love these songs and cannot get enough of them. It's been almost 3 years and Hype Boy is still making Song of the Year Gallup Surveys while Ditto climbs up the charts every Christmas. You can't tell K-Pop's story without mentioning these 3 songs

And last up, I'm going to make a selection that may surprise some, but those who truly know me will understand that I'm not afraid to give flowers when they have been earned, and so I will do just that for my final group, aespa.

    Drama/Supernova/Whiplash

This 3 song run changed the entire discourse and energy around aespa and their place in the pantheon of the greatest girl groups of their era and even history. For me, Drama was just okay, but I know how much people love it, so I'm taking that into account.

The real hard carries are Supernova and Whiplash. The producers cooked up masterpieces with these songs and aespa flawlessly executed and embodied the energy required to bring these bops and concepts to life.

As an aside, the bridge in Supernova may arguably be the greatest bridge in the history of K-Pop.

Well that's it. I actually wrote more than I intended. Brevity has never been my forte.

Well, AKP, did I cook? Of course you agree :pepe-smug:

This poll will NOT be anonymous

BREAKING NEWS: I am making a late addition to my list, and I am ashamed I didn't make them my lead hitter. This group released a trio of songs that cemented them as the top girl group in the industry, until JYP shipped them off to the states after their third hit managed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100

They want nobody nobody but you--it's the Wonder Girls

    better with each song

  • I was like: "I'm surprised I see no NewJeans."

Didn't take long to see them on your list. But shame on you for excluding MAMAMOO, btw!

To be fair, they don't have a "3 song run", their run is much longer. 🤣

"Mr. Ambiguous" - "Piano Man" - "Um Oh Ah Yeh" - "You're The Best" - "Decalcomanie" - "Yes I Am" - "Starry Night" - "Egotistic" - "Wind Flower" - "gogobebe" - "HIP" - "Dingga" - "AYA" - "Where Are We Now" - "mumumumuch" - "ILLELLA"

Literally, every year they had a great Title Track. The longest (16) run of any girl group, without being biased. :pepe-toast:

  • I actually regretted instantly not including them, but I only realized the gaffe after I posted and saw all the notifs from YOU PEOPLE in my other thread.

I knew you would say that. I adore Mamamoo's discography as a whole, but I wouldn't necessarily say they have the strongest title track combo ever.

  • BP win anyways bc:

    Whistle/Boombayah - PWF/Stay - AIIYL - D4 - KTL - HYLT :flirt-pepe2:

You're not getting away with that KTL sneak. That song is absolutely the most generic and sonically offensive song in their title track discography. Other than when MMM blocked them in 2017, it's the only other title track from BP that didn't even hit #1 in Korea.

    BEGONE

  • Now if you wanna talk quality (and success)

From nugudom to mainstream with an It girl

    Never been repeated

    BEGONE

This thread is about our opinions, no? And I love ktl so your opinion means nothing in my ranking :pepe-tea:

  • I knew you would say that. I adore Mamamoo's discography as a whole, but I wouldn't necessarily say they have the strongest title track combo ever.

You're kidding, right? The 4Seasons EP Title Tracks alone beat most Kpop Title Tracks.

To be fair, I wouldn't put all 16 TT's of Mamamoo in a TOP50 list, but the 4Seasons EP's are superior, also the Reality in Black album. The older ones are not really Kpop or Pop. Jazz, Blues, and Soul aren't genres for everyone, but still Mamamoo have that 3 song run easily.

  • Be serious, please! Never been repeated? Sistar, Apink, Brown Eyed Girls, GFriend, Oh My Girl, and the biggest nugu group, Mamamoo! And now, we have Kiss of Life as well.

    Okay fine

    Apink,

Music sucked, no ass shaking songs, concurrent with GsD

    ? Sistar

we as a society need to stop lying about Sistars music being good

    Before girls day too

    Brown Eyed Girl

Before girls day, one decent song, no it girls

    GFriend

No ass shaking anthems or it girls

    Oh My Girl,

    2½ hit wonder

    Only deserved one of them

    No it girls

    No ass shaking anthems

    Mamamoo!

    Deadass who

    Kiss of Life

No it girls and they're only 2 tracks in. Midas touch was ass.

Named a whole bunch of groups and only 2 had good music ffs

  • Personnally i would had these ones too

  • Perfect :p

  • You were doing okay, but aespa didn't have a legendary three-song run. Drama is a bop, but the song isn't that good; it relies heavily on the chorus. Whiplash is just not good in any way; it's a worse version of Le Sserafim's attempt. And you missed Apink's three-song run.

    Solid picks otherwise though :pepe-notes:

You must have an *rse instead of ears:meme-lemonposting: .

  • Hateful for no reason :emotionalpepe:

I gave a reason. The song SUCKS.

I hate that chorus with a passion. Easily their worst title track. Ugh.

Because Pikachu is a mid song.

Red Velvet is like the antithesis of a group that releases a streak of good songs.

They'll drop an amazing song like Bad Boy and then drop zimbababoobalamwamzam

But newjeans didn't release attention, hype boy and ditto back to back

Cuz they released cookie between hype boy and ditto

So can we really count them on the best 3 songs back to back run ???

    Yes

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

    What's the APink run?

    My/NoNoNo/Mr. Chu?

  • I award you with this. Keep doing the lord's work and keep cooking

  • I missed some posts. I will comment on them now.

You had me until the last song and last couple of lines.

Absolutely not. Maybe if Female President came after Something.

And I don't often agree with David these days, but Mamamoo literally repeated that at a bigger scale.

Twice: Likey - Heart shaker - What is love (god this era was when i got in to twice; I LOVE IT)

If Twice made the list, it would be for LOA/Cheer Up/TT

And I probably should've included them

Gogobebe isn't a top 10 Mamamoo song for me.
