Honest question, why do people care so much about how similar they are? This isn't a question of whether they are similar or not (they are, but the extent is exaggerated imo)

Honestly I don't really care.
Even though I do point out similarities between groups and make fun of it, I don't mind it. I just say it for fun and lolz.
Back then I stan Sistar and they were highly popular with the sexy concept. That didn't stop me from liking Girls Day or AOA or EXID for having similar concepts.
If the music is good then it's good it doesn't matter how many groups does it. Lowkey been vibing to Magnetic these few days it is growing on me

1. If a copy is better than the original, then everyone will diss the original
2. If the original is better than the copy, then everyone will say nothing is better than the original
3. Im not saying who is copy of who, but that's the nature of how it is being viewed and will be interpreted given the trend of things
4. Each group, whoever it may be, only wants to be the 'first' to do it- whatever that may be- and take credit, well, in this case its more of the stans who wants the credit. As we all know, no matter how much stan fight, idols are lovely to each other on a personal level.
Im not a fan of either group so I think Im pretty unbiased about it.
These came up alot back then; Twice and SNSD, 2ne1 and BP. It's definitely normal to be compared to previous groups. Because there is no originality in KPOP. Each group needs to be consists of something of their predecessors and you will find similarities if you look hard enough, or the similarities will find you if that's all you are looking for.
Apple iphone branding sells really well, why the hell would they opt in for another maker and innovation? Same with KPOP.
The real question should be: Why should it bother Illin or New Jeans fans if everyone thinks that Illin is New Jeans 2.0? I mean for Tokkis, that has to be a huge compliment to have the hottest new GG be considered a carbon copy, that is proof of your faves literally paving the way.
As for Illin fans, it's probably a tougher pill to swallow. Nobody likes being called a clone, no matter how obvious it is. However, what happens if Illin somehow outcharts New Jeans? Like Magnetic ends up to be a bigger hit than NJ's comeback in May? Then Illin fans will have the honor of being known as the group that toppled NJ's from their second place spot in the Kpop totem pole behind only Ive.
