  • ok ahjumma I understand NewJeans concerns

but Jennie is 28, and if she doesn't want to work for much longer then she should just take that big money from CK and do one photoshoot per year

  • Unlike the Lisa case where she chose to do her burlesque routine in Paris because she was a free agent, Jennie was still under contract when the YGE decided to eke out the few coins for something that was never going to show off her talent.

In the NJ's case, Hyori is just echoing Korean public opinion that NJ's outfits were too revealing for their age, it's not the first time and won't be the last time that Koreans in general don't agree with something that is isn't a major issue in the Western World.

  • Kids calling her hypocrite and say it's "ironic", but they don't even understand why she says that.

Maybe she’s speaking from her own experience. Not everything like this comes from a place of judgment or hate. It’s just like an older sister giving younger siblings advice.

Only grownups can understand what Hyori's talking about. Kids nowadays see some fair critique and instantly think the person is a hater or jealous.

Sorry but what does Ahjumma mean? I'm not very familiar with some terms in Korean language. Thanks. 🙂

Korean word for a married, or middle-aged woman.

  • Well the BP members are desperate to break into Hollywood, and sex sells, cough cough Harvey Weinstein…..It’s always been part of BP’s image, that’s why they’re super popular on Instagram, they pretty model girls. It’s like the Kardashians, who have an even bigggerrr following than BP despite most people not knowing any of them except Kim. Just hoping the girls won’t do a sex tape like Kim though!!!!

Jennie’s basically giving a green light to all her fans to you know…….tissue time

I'm so glad the creeps on this forum don't hide their creepiness even a little bit

I've never heard a single person accuse NewJeans of wearing revealing outfits... because they don't. Whereas Jennie is practically known for it. This is just a bizarre comparison, and she should probably mind her own business either way.

  • Honestly, she might be speaking out from her own experiences, but the thing is, Korea and the Western world have different opinions on what they think is right and wrong. Jennie's photoshoot in the west would be acceptable, but in korea it's really bad. It also brings me back to Jennie when she was in that one HBO show, a lot of k netizens were criticizing her when in the west it was no big deal. Korean people are just really strict on stuff like this. Also this could be a double standard bc I think when Jungkook did something like this, no one was saying mean things.

I get it, I see it for nj

But Jennie start doing cv since like 2020(?) When she was 24-25 and she keep doing it now under her own companie, it seem clear to me she feel comfortable enough to decide she wants to keep doing this campaign and there is no need for anybody to give her permission or concerns

"Recalling Uhm Jung Hwa's apparently provocative outfits during her Come 2 Me era in 2006, Lee Hyori acknowledged the harsh criticism faced by her senior during the time, since such clothes were not considered "nice" in Korea. Despite the negativity Uhm Jung Hwa faced, Lee Hyori expressed her gratitude for her efforts, noting that the former's choices paved the way for her and other juniors. However, , Lee Hyo-ri, confessed that she still feels protective of her junior idols like Jennie and NewJeans, despite changing times and largely progressive public opinion of "revealing outfits"

Obviously, Lee Hyori, of all people, is not going to start randomly chastity shaming her juniors. She's saying it out of place of concern because of the sexual harassment she went through. And considering how normalized objectifying or straight up sexually harassing Jennie is, she's not off base

Why say it in front of the camera?

    that’s why context is key

  • I'd understand Hyori's concern if she herself changed her ways...but she still dresses provocative at 44...her IG story dancing to Hwasa's I Love My Body in her bra and panties in her shower with her nipples poking through...

  • She's 40+, and she doesn't need to follow any rules anymore. Unlike Jennie or NJ members.

You hear that, ladies? David says you have to "follow rules" until you're 40. I'm not sure whose rules, but I assume his, since I've never heard of such a thing. Even Koreans don't infantilize grown women to THIS degree.

  • Hyori never followed any rules...even during her 20's.

I wouldn't say she NEVER followed any rules, but yeah, that's why people never really give a shit about people who hated her, because they couldn't force her to do something she doesn't want to do. Maybe if other Idols could do the same, Knetz would stop bitching about them.

    Who is talking :skull:

I know the queen of scantily clad isn't telling people to cover up.

Hyori is wearing Calvin Klein underwear too the same as Jennie.

There are also photoshoots where Hyori is wearing even less.

    She is like Frenemy.
