Did Gidle break the record of having shortest full album ever with only 20 min and 55 seconds?

Lol yikes. I can't think of seeing a "full album" shorter.
Shouldn't even call that a full album, it's just an EP in every sense. Even a lot of EPs are longer than this supposed full album.

Streaming era things.

Well, so does some EPs.

Recent releases or older?

His songs are all rap songs and there's only him so it's not comparable to a group's full album

Recent releases or older?
I know both Stray Kids' last EPs have 8 tracks. Idk about older releases, was it more normal before or now with longer EPs?
Seems like it can depend on different things if it's labeled EP or full album I guess

Bts ends everyone

Ridiculous stuff.
I see Jack in the Box as more of a concept album, the tracks that are under or slightly over 2 minutes are more like musical/sonic story tellers. Unlike with G-Idle's album tracks which were likely made loosely, J-Hope's album length wasn't deliberate to cater to the chaotic tiktok audience. Every track there makes sense regardless of the short duration. Mostly because they don't follow the normal song structure of a kpop song, they feel more like book chapters (and here the old school influence is obvious. Such an awesome album by J-Hope). Tracks like Equal Sign etc make their point across perfectly in under 2 minutes.
There's a clear vision with Jack in the Box both sonically and conceptually, the same can't be said about Gidles new album (and the majority of kpop group albums), which feel more like compilations of tracks rather than a cohesive body of work. Not complaining about that since it's hard to do as kpop group, just stating that fact.

bts - be (2020) has 8 tracks (including dynamite) and it's labeled aa full album. Love yourself: her (2017) has 9 tracks and it's labeled as EP. That's why i asked when. It seems that with time everything becomes shorter and shorter.

Interesting. And yes seems that with time songs (+ albums) become shorter. It's those Stray Kids releases that are uncommon for EPs it seems. It's very noticeable in kpop (and pop) these last years that 2 minute songs are becoming more and more normal. Like one of the biggest hits right now, greedy, is only 2:12.

Ugh.
Tiktok and streaming numbers are to blame for this ridiculous trend. Bring back bridges and instrumental parts!

Adding to this, ITZY's 'BORN TO BE' has 10 songs and It's 31 minutes long, but It's labeled as an EP.

Red Velvet's mini album has 6 songs and is 19 minutes long. The 7-song mini album is 23 minutes long. They definitely followed the trend. Unfortunately, the new trend is 2.30 minute songs.

And why is that? I find Gidle’s songs to have a lot of vision and are made very deliberately.
To group Gidle with “and majority of kpop group albums” is of itself very belittleing and imo people only do that because they’re a GG and are automatically seen as less artistic
The references and witty lyrics in Gidle’s latest songs far outperform any BG but ofc we aren’t ready for that conversation because we never want to give women their due.
All this to say having artistic merit is subjective. The point of album length is as much criticism for Gidle as it is for anyone else.

Don't worry that record will be broken soon

Well, so does some EPs.
Full albums consist of 7 to 20 songs, so everything over 7 songs can be called full album.

Wait I actually agree with this. I would like to hear why gidle songs sound like they are not artistic and made for tiktok while Jhope is supposedly for arts and not for charts/tiktok. I went through his audios and his songs could pass for tiktok songs because... anything can pass for tiktok song. Song just has to exist and one part has to go viral, it can be catchy and it doesn't have to be, there are no rules.

I didn't say their songs can't be artistic; just that, in my opinion, the song length (which is the topic we are talking about in this thread) in their case wasn't part of their vision for this specific album. Maybe I am wrong, but I listened to it today and that's how it sounded to me. I perceived J-Hope's album differently, since it's clearly influenced by old school hip-hop and if you look at some albums from 90s and 00s from like dr dre, beastie boys, etc there's a lot of tracks with short length, but they make sense in the context of the albums. Maybe the song length in Jhope's case was actually deliberate for tiktok reasons and I'm wrong, but it's well-disguised. IMO.

Yes I agree with you, very subjective topic, especially if you are a fan. I listened to his album (since it is so short) and I didn't feel any of that, perhaps because I am not a fan and I don't know him and the story behind the album. His album left me feeling nothing, just another album.
I am not gidle fan either but at least I felt something. It is giving me confident women vibes and I like music like that.

This is like shortest full album ever.

Only 20min 55 seconds
Can you find anything shorter than that?
The shortest leader - the shortest album. It's quite simple
