Minji likely dropped from #1 because of the cut noodles controversy.
The ranking now takes into account "The collected data undergoes extensive processing, including sentiment analysis to determine the tone of mentions and discussions related to each idol...The index score may take into account various factors such as positive and negative sentiments."
imo based on this, the index seems fairly accurate now for Korea, since people have been complained that idol A or B or C is too low, and the reason is that negative sentiment reduces their score. The major advertisers who have more budget and are risk adverse and essentially want someone with no or few negatives to advertise their product and will pay more. Smaller or mid-level companies have less money and are more likely to take risks.

The ranking feels more Idols that are popular and hot inside the kpop community, not reflecting the popularity and "brand" among the broader public. I doubt the girls in Aspea and NJ have any big popularity outside of kpop, compared with someone as Yoona that also do kdramas.

This is for the singer, clearly Yoona lost. Yoona hasn't released a song for a long time
Did you forget that the Reputation band also has an artist category? I remind you that
-
Unfortunately brand reputation is also clearly translated and connected to Gallup. so I doubt it's cheating even naver also released it

I don't think is meant to be any ranking how good singers they are, is meant to mean to show how strong the persons brand is among singers/kpop Idols, not the same thing.
-
From the start, the ranking was about hot topics, not about popularity, because it's impossible in the world of New Jeans to beat IU and BTS in popularity in Korea. it's just a hot topic and is trending or hot
-

I'm not saying it's cheating per se, but if the methodology is not transparent, data collection is dubious, has glaring discrepancies month to month (eg Taeyeon appearing high almost every month but disappearing from the list the month she release INVU) and the fact that the CEO has been sprung biasing against idols openly, I dare say it can't really be taken as gospel or seriously.
Hell, Jennie is my all time alt bias, I should be happy she tops the list, but the list is basically flawed.
Coming from a scientific point of view, data driven lists like this, like any good experiment or methodology, should be easily replicated and repeated by others. This particular data set, done by one biased man (with a raft of other problematic issues notwithstanding), on a secretive methodology... cannot be replicated. That alone is a red flag.

They are actually really open to every rank, always showing values and straightening out, even for negative and positive results, even Jennie herself has had a very low level of brand reputation.
because they are always about hot topics/trends, not popularity. Because it's impossible in any world for NewJeans members to be more popular in Korea than Jennie. it's always just about trends

Again, I repeat:

This particular data set, done by one biased man (with a raft of other problematic issues notwithstanding), on a secretive methodology... cannot be replicated. That alone is a red flag."
The way he harvests data, the way he processes it, his formula and methodology are NOT trasnperant. Not repeatable. Not open for proper scrutiny. This makes it dubious. And when the guy himself has been busted openly admitting to bias and has been caught manipulating data in the past (though not in relation to THIS thing), it just doesn't make sense to trust this or take it as seriously and people do.

Wonyoung isn't that popular anymore

Sekali lagi saya ulangi:
like most fans say brand reputation is biased because only they know the results even though we can easily see it from the results they write in detail
they are connected to gallup sake pete even naver itself always releases it. But of course you can't completely believe in brand reputation but where does our courage to think they are biased come from when Naver itself believes in that and even gallups are connected from that
various agencies even believe that. and moreover, many advertisements and endorsements rely on it. So naive if we doubt everything
-
These Brand Reputation Rankings are utterly irrelevant lol. Just like PAKs, it's based on one rando's sus methodology. Fun to argue about and use to attack others or defend your faves but in reality, they are all meaningless.
Just use common sense folks. In terms of Kpop GGs, it's pretty much Jennie, Wonyoung, and Karina in Korea right now. You could throw a dozen names in the second tier (Minji, Haerin, Yujin, Chaewon, Winter, Jisoo, Rose, Arin, Irene, Hwasa, etc) and they could all be right. But first tier is set in stone right now.
Wild card is actually Somi, her popularity is sneaky huge there, she gets all the brand recognition that 99 percent of other GG idols can only dream about.
