4th gen bgs that are the closest equivalent to 4th gen ggs

For me TXT= (G)I-dle.

They both debuted near the beginning of the gen, but they also make music that is a little different from other groups. To me, they don't fit with the 'standard' Gen 4 sound. It's all a bit more quirky than average

This gen I think is harder to make equivalents. I agree about Stray Kids and aespa, but I would change the description. While for Stray Kids they're badmouthed for their digital kcharts, aespa is badmouthed for their spotify streams, so one do better in digitals globally and other in korea, but both of them are target of the same diss.

For me (G)I-DLE and Stray Kids are more counterparts. Actually they are the only duo I see as strong counterparts.

- Soyeon and Bang Chan are the backbone of each group. JYP and Cube basically threw both groups on their hands and called It a day. They had to come off with almost everything musically and conceptually.

- They opened a generation and gained the most ROTY awards each in the year they debuted together.

- Despite both have mid-success since debut, they naturally built their way to the top through the years until they could reach a Top Group status.

- They went to Queendom and Kingdom and It helped both to gain a bit more attention domestically than before.

- They are legit self-produced groups who create music from scratch. And keep doing their own thing despite criticism here and there, because they know they have a public and they know their routes are being successful. "Don't fix what isn't broken" their motto

- They had a similar big scandal and resurfaced from It like a Phoenix.

I consider their debut year a mid-tier success. It's nowhere close to the level they are today, but It's far from a flop.

TFN & Lapillus

Both had high hopes on their debut, and are now screwed over by their company

Ateez and Itzy. Performance groups accused of making too much noise music.

GIDLE was decidedly mid tier till tomboy imo.

boynextdoor and newjeans are quite similar except maybe their songs aren't sonically the same.

I think they were well above midtier when it came to 4th gen groups

Not saying they were top 3 always, by they were always in the conversation for top 5.
