What prevents Kpop from being mainstream in America (compared to country music, Latin music,...)?

I think this is your dumbest thread yet. But I'll answer, and it's just one word. Colonization. That's it. Don't see Korean being the second most used language globally after English.

You're asking what's keeping Kpop, a genre focused on a foreign minority that's not in the top 3 represented population, from being like Country (An American originating Genre) and Latin Pop, a genre for the largest minority group in America.

Also the global hits of MIA, every Bad Bunny follow up hit, Despacito… like there are just so many reasons that kpop is going to stay niche outside of korea and almost all of those reasons are because korea is so different culturally and linguistically

If there were 50 million Korean speakers in the US, Kpop would be mainstream. Unfortunately, there are like 1-2 million.

Nah, 100% sure it wouldn't even in that case. The difference with hispanic music is that it's literally made for party so even the americans vibe to it. Kpop has some upbeat songs but it is just not the same, without mentioning kpop industry is seen as a joke by a lot of people

there are like a 100+ reasons probably. rise of spotify. no one understands the language. kpop groups making english songs. it's a small country and they only use korean streaming services(no boost globally). streaming not as fun on spotify like youtube. there are just too many groups that eat each others' market. but i think most important of all, they are not music oriented at all, it's just an afterthought compared to thousands of lives/videos these idols do to keep fans hooked to them every day every week. these idols don't have any lives, they are not allowed to be free and show who they date if they wanted to. for some fans, these restrictions allow them to feel good for a long time and idols don't care or question what their companies make them do because it generates money. it is treated as a job afterall. Ya, one might say kpop has come far because of all this but the whole industry and stanning is just for lack of better word full of negative energy. i know koreans already know this because they experienced it firsthand and that's why boygroups flop there now but maybe global fans probably need some more time. Bigbang was a true kpop group. the first gen and 2nd gen was kpop at its best, the golden generation and now it's gone to completely different direction that i despise. these groups are not genuine anymore. fake.

Country music is like trot in Korea, it's their music so they probably been listening to it for ages and will continue to do so. Same with Latin music. The flaw in your logic is to think both these musics were brought from somewhere else and pushed into the scene by the fans, like kpop was. This is part of their identity for some, kpop will never.

If you singled it out to Despacito's performers, maybe, but a lot of American artists releases collabs with Latin artists following Despacito's success. The difference with kpop is that it is not limited to one single act.

Just take one look at the sad industry of kpop. The music sucks, everybody is too worried about beauty, nobody has talent, it's no wonder kpop has fallen behind other genres. Kpop music does not appeal to Americans.

They can do Nothing. Koreans cant match Latinos. Les falta mucho para igualar nuestra sabrosura.
