The girls are pretty close and living the peak of their career since last year when the cringy music started. I think it's likely they gonna renew, sans Yuqi, since chinese idols usually go back to their home country.

i don't think members really care about it either since they're based in korea and koreans don't have any complaints against soyeon's english lyrics, im sure they'd eat up this song too, so as long as gidle are getting good results members would assume people are loving these type of songs and members are making loads of money from it so why'd they care, i don't think any member has ever hinted any dislike towards these type of songs that they are doing, yuqi shuahua etc are very open mouthed and would easily show if they not liking the concept or song . Also even if division comes among members, cube would easily give more priority to soyeon over any other member anyways.

That topic should be discussed more. At least Soyeon beats are good, so I still consider her a respectable composer, but most idols who fans hype as credited composer just makes some of the most uninspiring and boring songs out there. IDC if your idol calls herself/himself as a composer if they don't make songs that are actually good and at the same level of full time composers. Hui and that B1a4 member who composed At The Same Place are some idol composers who could pass as full time composers.

They tour internationally though. Would you get up on stage in an English-speaking country to sing this new song? Especially if you're someone like Yuqi, who knows exactly what Soyeon is making her sing?

Soyeon's creative freedom is the sole reason for (G) IDLE's success in the first place. They're hard carrying that company of course they're gonna let her do what she wants.

Soyeon's creative freedom regardless of my positive opinions on it(she has a really good track record for me) is a net benefit to Cube as shown by G-idle's success on the charts. Though she's not my bias in the group(that's Yuqi) media outlets consistently seem to emphasize her rightful importance to the group as a whole which is understandable. Considering the success of the group, I would say the creative freedom Cube is giving her is a good thing from a business standpoint and the fact that it allows a niche for G-idle to fill very well.

Ive said this before, i dont think folks realize how tiny Cube is, they wouldnt even be a smallcap company in the US stock market, they would be a literal microcap. They only have 80 total employees, that's less than my local Walmart probably.

I can understand why they wouldnt have the money to hire or even contract out for an English specialist but ffs, Soyeon knows a billion people all she has to do is ask her IOI BFF Somi for an hour of her time and pay her back with a bottle of fancy scotch or Japanese whiskey. Or better yet, JUST EMAIL ME CUBE OR ANY OTHER KPOP GROUP, I WILL DO IT FOR FREE. I said this before but i wanna repeat: I got a 700 in the English portion of my SAT score, proudest moment of my academic career. My subject/verb agreement is trash these days for reasons but that's what grammerly is for .

She might be proficient but unless you grew up speaking English natively or have lived in an English speaking country for many many years, it's really hard to get the right English diction. Words that sound great and fine on paper or in an English class might still sound cringy af to native speakers.

Well Korean clearly don’t care and most don’t understand English anyway. It’s just a problem for people who understand English. And yes even I, with a medium english level, find her lyrics whack. Like I still don’t understand why Nude wasn’t simply called Naked. But the production is good though.

This. I find it unfair to judge non native speakers prononciation but her lyrics make zero sense. I usually don’t care much for lyrics since english is not my first, not even my second or third language but she really makes it hard to ignore.

Lots of foreigners, like Swedes, speak a better English than the average American.

Anyways. Soyeon is almost singlehandedly carrying her whole company on her back. So I'm doubtful anyone here has anything relevant to say about what she should or should not do.

Again I don’t think they are successful thanks to their lyrics. She’s a good composer, the music is good, they also have this rebel/bad girl image very different from other K-pop groups. And I doubt Koreans or Asians care about english lyrics.

Most K-pop songs, or pop songs in general to be honest, aren’t deep but at least they aren’t nonsensical.

She’s clearly talented she just needs a few minutes to fix her lyrics.
