Rookie mistakes u did as someone new to kpop

Before getting into kpop I'd lived 2 and a half years in Japan and been exposed to the ear splitting nightmare of "cutesy" girl groups like akb48 etc. Rainbow pastel hellscapes of identical costumes, somewhat dull choreo and high pitched vocals that make the chipmunks sound baritone.
I thought kpop was basically that in Korean, maybe some slightly more risque costumes.
Then I discovered Blackpink. But for a while still believed MOST kpop was cutesy, kpop esque stuff. I even made a comment on another board that I joined early that "I only like Blackpink really, I'm not into cutesy shit like Itzy and izone...".
Yeah I was dumb
I also had the image of snsd in my mind for all k-pop ggs because I had seen some Jpop ggs during my anime phase
What about now, do u like twice cute songs? I really liked twice cute songs when I started using them for dance workouts

Nah still not into cute concept stuff.
Across all genres of music I listen to I like stuff with a bit of "edge" to it. Kind of hard for me to define, I don't just mean edge music but a certain je ne sais quoi element for me.
I do like some Twice songs, like ICSM and cry for me. They have that edge I mean.

I though Soshi, SNSD, Girls’ Generation were all different groups

I was 13 years old and very naive so I thought for a short while that idols vocals were that stable and that lypsinc was not a thing in Kpop.

When I was new to KPop in 2010 I belived every BS people told me
Some girl said "2NE1 and BIG BANG only were able to shoot an MV together cause they date eachother" and she said Minzy with Daesung, Sandara and GD, Park Bom and T.O.P, CL and Taeyang. I fucking belived her for a second ... As I figured that must be fake some people said at least Daesung and Minzy and GD and Sandara would be real ... I belived them ... guess what, 13 years later and GD is in fact now dating Sandara ...
A few years later when I still was kinda new to most KPop-stuff I belived every stuff that former idols claimed would be true on Youtube. Like in the early 2010s some former idols got famous for saying random stuff in English about KPop acting as if they would expose something. I mostly belived what a dude called Henry Mak had to say who is a former member of JJCC. I only figured he was sometimes talking quit a lot bullshit when he started to use his conections to Jackson Wang and that he was constantly talking about Seungri's case, it started to bore me and than when he stoped filming for YT I stoped caring since I realised his videos are just clickbait or random BS.
Being in weird group-chats about KPop in random forums. I remember in 2012 I was in one forum and a girl on there made a chat for NU'EST in which people opend up different topics and 90% of the time was it about "Why is Ren so pretty?", "Why is Ren so cute?", "Why is Ren even better in nail art than most of us girls?" ... it was so odd. Literally the early times being a NU'EST-fan felt like if NU'EST was "Pretty Ren and the 4 other dudes" lmao. I do not recomend group-chats like that, they will fuck your mental health eventually cause I remember some girls who had very little self-confidence in the chat and them writting on how cuty and handsome Ren was ended by some girls in "I feel so bad when even a guy is looking better than I do" ooof .
I thought it was standart in KPop to release Chinese versions of songs ... it was just EXO who did that lol but I thought all KPop groups would be forced to make music in Chinese
B.A.P was the first ever KPop group holding a concert in Europe in 2012 and than I thought they would've been extremly more famous than they actually were cause I thought only if you have worldwide fame you could do a concert outside of Korea
Som girl told me crap about why TVXQ splitt up and than I belived her when she said "and SM is mad that the dudes in JYJ are now way more rich than TVXQ's remaining member"
I read some random comments somewhere and than thought back in 2010 that every Korean girl had a crush on CNBLUE and FTISLAND

well i wasn't 13 but same
-
Well that maybe is a fair assumption
-
I thought SNSD and Girl's Generation were two different groups... As the whole "Asians look alike" stereotype really irked me, I was beside myself until I worked it out.
This lol
til i'm like wait why are the same people in both groups....I was confused
Also it took me a year to figure out who was who in SF9 other than Yoo Taeyang....a freakin year....

Thinking that the most popular member was also the most talented member or the most skilled member, I was soooo wrong. Learning all the positions in a group. Trying to match the names with the hairdos of the members.
Why is learning their positions a mistake or you mean you took it very seriously XD

i though kpop fans are nice and not so toxic.
-
It was not a mistake as much as it was a surprise. Learning there were leaders, maknaes, visuals, centers, dancers, rappers, vocalists. It was an interesting part of getting into kpop but a difficult one to grasp while getting to match names and hairdos in kpop and getting confused while at it.

I just thought of one because of IsaidIsaid's "kpop song you hate thread". Listening to songs I don't like very much and watching the performances over and over again because I don't know of many other k-pop songs.
