Cause when you think about it the project benefits her the most. I mean none of the other members have to worry about it flopping because they're already very successful on their own atm, but BoA's comebacks haven't been really successful for a while now.

BoA has a HUGE legacy, she had her prime, she is still remembered as a legend or whatever even if her music is not resonating with the public anymore. It is unfair how all the hate is directed to her just because current kpop stans don't know her.
This talk is unfair to her, I mean Hyoyeon is also not having success with her comebacks but do you see people talk like this about her? NO, as they should!. People should do the same for Boa.

First, she's own bunch of SM shares and is a director of SM. She is higher level based on seniority and positions. In short, she can do whatever she wants. I remembered she rejected the song that was chosen by LSM without much persistence.
GOT isn't her own idea but she's welcoming the idea and accepted it because like you said it will benefit and expanded her own career by introducing her to younger audiences. SM usually will promote the newer members the most in new unit. Instead Boa who essentially the oldest being put in the center and got many singing/killing/dancebreak parts. This is goes opposite of what SM usually did.
I think it was more to represent artists from the 1st to the current gen in 1 group. And I compliment the members of making it look like a cohesive, solid group across 4 gens despite the age difference.
I'd hoped they'd have a stronger song they'd come back with, like a power anthem song, because this group mix would be great for it.
Not doing that feels like a missed opportunity and a mistake, but what would/could you expect, this is SM we're talking about: of the big companies they're the worst in promotional power and image/rep/brand building effectiveness since the '00s 
An A for their willingness to experiment and venture into non-mainstream paths and ideas, a C/D for their execution of it.
Personally I wish more companies would do things like this, I think it's a great idea to have collab project groups like this, especially when it's such a strong ensemble of talents.
But I'm a hardcore fan of collaborations and have always found it a shame and saddening disappointment that we've never ever seen live performances of the WOW Thing collab.
So even if I think SM could've done better and more with this project group, I can still enjoy the content of GOT The Beat or sortlike setups - regardless whichever company does it - for the unexpected pleasant surprise that it is 
No. She wouldn't gain much out of it if did succeed.
If GOT was smash hit you really think Boa would have a new auidnece of younger fans? Nope. She hasn't been popular with the public for years, appearing in a group isn't exactly going to set up in lights especially as everyone else in the group is currently more well known and more active than her.
Plus no one was saying this when the group was first assembled, on the contrary everyone was excited about Boa inclusion as a top tier dancer. So when it's hyped at debut and doing decently on charts Boa is fine but when it's doing badly Boa is the reason for failure? Doesn't make sense.
