the problem with 4th gen girl group is longetivity

How many best 4th Gen GG circle did we allready got in the last 3 years? Just let ygngg debute. Then wait 3 month till their Hype is gone. Then bp and twice can chill on top again.

It’s way too early to judge their longevity and all these groups gained an established fanbase in what ? One year ? It’s another form of longevity.

Aespa is going to be around for a long time. That I'm sure.

While I agree it's too early, I think op meant longevity where all tts are "successful" like all "top" GGs in the 4th gen had a "flop" in the first year or after their first year, except Ive and NewJeans while in 3rd gen the top groups kept in the top with hits after hits after hits for years and in some cases getting bigger hits and peaking each cb etc.

It never happens to Red Velvet honestly, they have always alternated between hits and flop songs yet as OP said, their longevity is still showing now.

Gen z in general is like that, on TikTok they move from microtrend to microtrend in like weeks, leaving behind whatever they liked of a pass trend to collect dust

seems like the gp moving on too fast when it comes to 4th gen.. lets see how ive, newjeans, lesserafim and gidle gonna do this year..

look back on how the top GG of 2nd Gen
1st tier Wondergirls , Kara, SNSD, T-ara, 2NE1

then 2nd tier Miss A, Sistar, 4Minute
some of those GG release a hit song not on consecutive years

fast forward to now this 4th Gen
AESPA ,IVE ,G-IDLE
even ITZY
could comeback strong like G- IDLE( Tomboy)
too early to say they already out or discarded by public

that the real reason
for now I divided them for each year

IVE the best of 2022

then 2023 only few days of Jan too early tell

Public longevity (national hit song)- how long they could release a national hit?

example is ITZY their debut Dalla , comeback ICY then follow by Wannabe
since then their song carry by their fandom buying power?

at least on gen recognition

it take a 2022 to get a gen public recognition w Tomboy that could be longevity
it doesn't need consecutive release

while

the fandom longevity is album sales

And that's just 1 group, but in 4th gen we already had Itzy, Idle, StayC, Aespa like, the TOP3 keeps changing. They couldn't maintain even a 1 year longevity, buuuuut I think this will be the new case where 1 cb hits, the other don't, etc. The important is that GGs are having huge fanbases and they are growing each cb. This here is actually more impressive and great for the gg game.

I wouldn't include groups from 2018 (well I consider them to be between generations) anyway they are a bit more stable than groups that have been debuting in the last 3 years or so but it's a bit hard to tell yet.

LSRFM hasnt flopped yet either, Fearless peaked at 8 and is still top 30 after over 8 months.

You're starting to get the point. It's that all of the casual listeners jump ship as soon as the next trendy girl group debuts OR a song comes out that they don't like. There is no room to switch up what you're known for otherwise the group is dropped like a hot potato. I blame the attitude towards rookie groups ever since 2021, not the groups themselves.

Seeing so many group debut I would say the competition is insane..
