What road did bts pave exactly? K-pop was gonna go global even if bts never existed. BP was the sure sign of this. K-pop never needed bts
BTS paved the way for kpop to be more main-stream and known in the US . now you can't even say "do you know kpop"or "i like kpop" without kpop being associated with BTS. they helped it be made more known. They're also setting the standard and showing that was thought impossible is now possible. That now headlining k-con sure is impressive but you can do better like a VMA or AMA performance. Why do you think they're adding kpop categories in western award shows???? BECAUSE OF BTS. 1. The fandoms aren't big enough
2. The fandoms aren't organized enough
3. K-pop groups have horrible streams in the US
4. Billboard lowered sales weight after seeing ARMYs beat them at their own game. IDC if you think it's cheating, it worked and Billboard hated being played. So now, it's harder for everyone, especially smaller artists (which includes 99% of Kpop acts).
BTS didn't destroy anything.
Kpop was seen as niche like anime before BTS even happened.
Your faves can only wish to be nominated not once but thrice by the Grammys.
Call Grammys whatever you like but it's still significant to those artists.

because top 100 now is near impossible to enter without radio playlist and radio networks in US are notoriously selective. they even refuse to play bad bunny when he had massive tour and streaming on both coasts.
digital sales used to be the way (taylor swift still use weekly remix digital release to keep her top 10 for midnight) but i think now there's limit per cc number/paypal acc per week? not totally sure but yeah it's the game of US distributor's, not artists' nor fans' fault.

bts paved the way for other hybe groups but definitely not for 3rd gen girl groups especially bp they were already doing well internationally with aiiyl it charted on bubble under (#13) hot 100 in 2017 and this was before bts hit it big
blackpink always appealed internationally you can tell by their youtube views etc
