Non-music reasons that made you interested in a group?

RoWon in a kdrama I watched in Netflix made me interested in his group.

before i was officially into bigbang, i loved gd and wanted to get into them bc he was so cute... but that didnt work out. eventually i discovered more of their music and thats how i got into them

i got interested in nct 127 bc of their visuals

Oh I saw chanyi in a bl drama and learned he was a former idol through research.

He since left the group and I believe most members left the group as well… iirc there’s like 1-2 members who stayed and The Man Blk hasn’t been active in a long while so I don’t think the company has plans for them really… they are just there.

From what I remember reading is that their gimmick was being an idol actor group. The idol part is obvious but they wanted the members to do acting as well from the getgo and make a name there. We see idols go into acting all the time but I think it’s interesting that is part of their conceptual identity as a group.

It’s also why people say the members have this sort of “actor” feel as opposed to an “idol” feel.

I didnt notice Twice, BP and Izone for their music. I noticed them for their varieties and fanservice content first, then the music. It doesnt hurt that Twice and BP have the best discographies in Kpop, while Izone has some of the best B sides ever, but it's not what got me to stan them.

a group cannot be a fav if there's nothing that attracts me to them (when I say attract I don't mean visuals) - I can listen to music from any group but they don't necessarily become my favs - for me it's about their personalities (or at least what they show on camera) and their interactions with one another

and the one that made me drown into izone is Izone chu + eating trip series.

later on, I start to digest their performance and what the heck they are my most perfect group.

Even if Billlie's disco is unique and fun, the one that hooked me first is their cinematic trailers for their songs.

Are they handled by a movie production team?? Their trailers are really really good and the soundtrack used for the trailer are also good. Maybe for this one, it's both the contents and the music simultaneously
