Y'all be laughing at me and calling me a ranting senile ol boomer but lookit here....Chaeyoung flat out states what i've long feared. New Jeans threatens the very nature of Kpop and what makes it special.
Kpop isnt JUST a rehash of Western music. Kpop takes Western music and fuses the different genres together into something unique, the best songs do a masterful job of mixing EDM and dance, pop, retro, RnB, hip hop trap, rap, and rock into a veritable smorgasbord of sensational music. Then you add in the Korglish lyrics and syncro choreo and you end up with the best genre of pop music out there today.
Newbeans is a threat to all this. The cultural reset they could bring about is not like the positive progressive influences that BP brought to GGs with their addictive brand of girl crush...instead it's regressive and not unique, it's taking Kpop and turning it into a carbon copy of the 90s.
I didnt sign up for Kpop just to be taken back to the 1990s, if Kpop wants to go back in time, at least go back in time to the 1980s where the best pop music ever made was peaking. 80s pop, synth, arena rock and hair metal, let's get that shit going ffs.
If we see all my faves start churning out TLC retreads in order to jump onboard this train...imma gonna FLIP OUT omg.
