It is MANDATORY, so just volunteer to do the military services then make a BIG comeback. No one is holding anyone back. I am very confused, why BTS let SK government throw them back and forth. Instead of waiting for government to call you for military enlistment, just come forward and put down your name.
At this stage, it’s better for BTS to voluntarily enlistment so SK government can stop making stupid polls
-
-
-
-
But then SK people are really questioning their sincere speech about military service. I mean Jin did speech passionate about mandatory enlistment as a Korean pride, I don’t see how SK people would react to their acceptance not doing military service. Also, after all the mess the government is making, I don’t see it is a good way to accept exemption.
-
But With the mess the SK government create, not even a warranty that they will get it, I see it too much of the loss.

The flip side of enlistment is just as problematic.
BTS, HYBE, and - by extension - even the korean GDP would suffer from lost revenue on some pretty bad levels.
The group contributes $3.5 billion annually to the SK GDP and even during the pandemic, HYBE was able to increase revenue 58% thanks to BTS.(NY Times)
If bts left, HYBE could be even considered to be written off and gone due to the backlash in the stock market; holders would sell once one of the biggest money makers of HYBE were put on hold. A mass sale of stock plunges the stock value and if HYBE isn't proactive enough, it could torpedo the company into oblivion. RIP to Lesserafim and NewJeans.
Not only that but NPRrates BTS as bringing in $5Bn for the SK economy a year in ripple effects, creating jobs, and providing revenue streams that weren't possible without them. That's already 0.5% of the SK annual GDP
In macro economics, even sub percent changes to the GDP is insane; GDP growth for america fell 0.9% and economists are already ringing the alarm bells. Changes in GDP growth already shakes economies, not to mention straight GDP.
Basically if BTS were to full-stop in kpop and go to the military, SK can expect a minor recession on the horizon.
Edit: The Cultural Merit award is practically an understatement at this point. Bts is no joking matter simply because of economics.
-
Why should he be enlistment early, because BTS is in hiatus, no group activity any further.
SK government keep bringing BTS enlistment and make noise about it. It definitely damage BTS brand and image. SK government is messy but BTS can saved them from this mess by voluntarily doing it. The early you do, the better it is.

Hybe will be impacted, but SK economy is not. Kpop is in the good rising, every single act can make their worldwide success , not BTS. BP make a first kpop artist to spent multiple day at No.1 on Spotify, First kpop artist to achieve No.1 in Australia, … Aespa, Itzy first million album, many more to come. So kpop industry still going well. 3 millions album from BTS can be replaced by many albums from other groups.
The only downside is that not many boy groups to be after BTS and Hybe might be struggle but if they play well, everything shall be alright

bts' impact on sk tourism is not comparable to groups like aespa and itzy...

and they will enlist if they want
If they get exemption or alternate service, they will take it
They earned it
So they are willing to let government playing around with their enlistment? It doesn’t sound good at all

I'll just add to this. It is not just about economy. BTS aren't just affecting HYBE or SK economy. People in the government know what they are doing.
The surveys conducted all over the world show that BTS are not just impacting kpop, they are also making an impact on Kdrama, K-Beauty, K-Food, etc. all over the world. These surveys are conducted by the government themselves and they see what people are saying.
Biggest Korean companies like Samsung, Hyundai, Lotte, etc. have deals with BTS. Seoul Government themselves said they could not find any suitable ambassador to replace BTS to promote Seoul. That's the impact of BTS.
BTS are the most known Korean entity around the world. They are not just economic power, they are also soft power. I don't expect kpop fans to understand the importance of soft power in today's world so no point talking about it here. The point is talks related to Korea always involve BTS. Everyone has an opinion on them. Let it be good or bad.
These everyday people don't know and understand these minute things that have huge ripple effects. But people in government do. That's why they are doing things they have never done before. Because the situation with BTS is unprecedented.

You don't want others to dictate what he should do but you want to dictate what he should. Why do you even care about BTS? Their legacy is cemented. They will always be the biggest and the greatest Korean artists of all time. Nothing will impact that. So no need to worry about them. Especially for non fans like you.

No point explaining anything to the person who thinks aespa and itzy selling millions is enough or the supposed biggest group named blackpink booking 15k capacity arena in Korea of all places are as big as bts and their impact and enough to replace them.
Anyway, bts totally should listen to a nobody on the internet and enlist already.
Bts is the only global superstar with the biggest impact which is why the government from both sides know and stay using them. They know there will be no celebrity from Korea with that kind of power in a very long time which is why they're milking it till the end(going out and asking their dads to convince them to represent Busan after a whole year of trying to pursue the boys), even the new administration. The government is the one who started the topic of exemption, not the boys, and you think it will be that easy for them to enlist? Especially also when a corporation is dependent on them too?
You are so smart, how could they not listen to you of all people
-
I do hope they accept the exception
Korea hasnt see a mass scandal in a while, the outcome of it will be fun to watch
-
Thanks for explaining the enlistment process.
I concur with you. To put it in another way, even for an obligation like paying income taxes, many people will wait until the last minute to do it.
For those people asking, put yourself in Jin's shoes. If you are allowed another year by law before your turn for mandatory enlistment is up, will you do it 1 year earlier anyway? I'm not gonna lie. I certainly won't.

Some of y’all think it’s only Hybe that has a stake in BTS presence. That’s not true. Apart from BTS being the biggest global ambassadors for some of Koreans top money makers like Hyundai and Samsung, the government itself has stakes in BTS wellbeing.
This is what happened when BTS mentioned their hiatus on festa. So the government taking time to consider their exemptions in the first place did not come out of thin air or as BTS demanding for it but rather a need for them to remain active.

It's the way we've been hearing this sh*t since 2018 (when they were still years away from any of them even being the age that most idols enlist). Its so damn annoying
-

The gag is BTS will perform in front of 100k people in the same day as blackpink will perform in front of 15k people in SK. These people keep making comparisons as if Blackpink or ANY kpop group have the same impact as BTS when it's not the same at all. It's not even belittling other groups as it is FACTS.
The tourism, cultural impact, consume of products, and etc...BTS is unprecedented. For example, BT21 is so popular and it's just one of BTS' IP. Or when Dynamite hit number 1 on hot 100 and it had a ripple effect in SK's economy by 1B USD monetary gain giving many civilians a job. BTS is also the best ambassador of their country. It is back up with solid data through surveys and their government knows it.
BTS is not just all charts or album sales- they are far beyond that. They basically expanded Kpop to a whole new level and kpop fans denying this won't take away the truth.
-
All these fake concerns and cries about Jin not enlisting before he is called. Please make sure to send congratulation bouquets when does enlist and comes back. He is ought to know there are so many non-fans that care about him and BTS.
And for losers who cry when their faves are barely mentioned in discussions but act the most stupid and toxic when it comes to BTS. Take several seats and maybe drink some milk to soothe your tantrums.

The way we go round and round this topic like any one of us can change anything.
Let's be real: antis start this topic so they can gleefully pour more shit on BTS.
Stop arguing with them and spouting facts - THEY DON'T ACTUALLY CARE. For years, antis have been crying for BTS to move over. Guess what? THEY'RE STILL WAILING.
-
-
I realise some Army might call me anti after this but 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏻🤷🏽♂️
I just want BTS to serve already to shut them all up ( antis/government/Knetz/Korean gp).
Voluntarily serve and not wait for call to enlist if possible.
Tired of this shit already.
The antis calling for BTS's blood have gotten to you. You really shouldn't let them.
-
Op contradicting himself/herself. You said Bts doesnt have impact in Korea but the Sk government is manipulating them so why would even officials care about bts enlistment if they do not have impact in their economy?
Obviously the announcement from them being in "hiatus" as a group at the height of their career is because of enlishment.
-
I had no idea the officials of the SK World Expo committee met with the parents of JK and Jimin. This bid to win the World Expo is obviously a huge deal that the SK government wants to win. And I guess asking just one Group instead of featuring a variety of artists at a concert to win the bid shows how important BTS is to the country.
