There's akb48 if you're interested in that and most of the time girl group don't sell as well as boygroups. SM was planning on it with RV but I guess smth stopped it.

I think LSM wanted to do it but they tried with boys first

I think they were supposed to add members to RV
With the backlash yeri recieved they gave up
^^this
I also think they didn’t have a deep enough pool to do it. If you look at the SM Rookies roster, there were 9 girls and 14 boys in the original group. Another 5 boys were added (mostly WayV) later and only one other girl (NingNing). Two other NCT members bypassed the rookies program and went straight into the first groups.
Also, there are a few other members like Sungchan who were trainees at this period who also weren’t in rookies but later debuted in NCT.

might be that bgs with many members do better than ggs with many members. because bgs mostly have female fans, who statistically are more dedicated fans, and therefore bother to get to know 20+ people. in comparison to ggs who has a more balanced fanbase as well as generally more attention from the general public, and the general public absolutely doesn't bother to learn the names of 20+ people

Bc it’s enough with one

I'd read that too. That a big part of NCT was the fact that SM just had so many male trainees at the time, and if you did a traditional group debut with them, that'd be a lot of money sunken into training costs just to let most of them go.

I know akb48, hkt48 and their other sister groups too. I just wonder why sm didn't doing the same concept with their gg as Lsm obviously heavily inspired by these Japan groups.

SM has always had more male trainees. Think about 2nd gen when they debuted TVXQ, Super Junior, and Shinee within a span of like five years.
