I don’t feel comfortable in supporting NewJeans. Putting aside the fact that I haven’t liked anything they’ve released, the whole issue with Min Heejin and now the lyrics of Cookie… I just can’t support them. I don’t have an issue with minors debuting however, I’m not comfortable stanning if they’re being treated like this. Its nothing against the girls, Im sure they are all very lovely and talented. But knowing Min Heejin is their creative director, I can't support them in good conscience.

Well. I like their songs alot. But like you, i find the issue with cookie disturbing. And make very uncomfortable listen to their songs now. I saw many saying this is a very poor translations, but i know kpoopies wll say anything to defend their faves or the company of their faves. So, im waiting a more relatable source to clarify this subject.

Cause they are literally kids. I can't take kids groups seriously. They also gave the kids a mature concept song, so the purpose is clear. It's embarrassing to see this. It's even more sickening that Koreans love concepts hidden under an innocent image.

Wasn't trying to get into any fight, so you don't need to talk to me like that, please. I actually wasn't aware of any controversies surrounding that content. So informing me in a polite way would've been more productive.
I have nothing against the members of NewJeans, rather Min Heejin instead. I also don't want to stan a group with someone as young as 14/15, that makes me uncomfortable.

Especially as it would be hypocritical of me to, considering the fact that they are not the first group to debut young nor are they the first to have suggestive lyrics.
I think the biggest fault here lies in them debuting so young in such a cutthroat industry. Everything else is how you perceive it as. But since they've already debuted then there's nothing that we can do about it.
Anyway you believe these girls need to be saved and that's why you're turning away from them but if everyone were to have this opinion then gawd so help these girls because fans also help shield their artists from hate and I think they are at the ages where they need to be adored and supported. Yes they can avoid social media for the most part but they will need to go live eventually and have to read comments.
I'm no stan myself because stanning is a chore. But I do hope to see people shield them and adore them rather than throw accusations their way

I find it really weird that their stans are already jumping through hoops and stuff to defend the Cookie lyrics cause....there's really no other way you can twist that unless you're young or smth. Really says alot about you if you're willing to defend that idk
I was never really going to stan them because I'm uncomfortable with the concept stanning a group full of minors but the Cookie mess pushed me away more. The EP isn't even that good imo outside of Attention anyway.
It's clear HYBE have no idea how to properly market their girl groups and if "noise marketing" means subjecting literal children to stuff like that then maybe they shouldve stuck to their boy groups.

Same. The "IN YOUR FACE" sexualization of minors is so gross. The lyrics, the styling.. you have to be very young or being ignorant on purpose. Nobody is attacking the girls. They obviously have no control. It's just sad how the KPOP community is so willing to defend pedo's and the pimping of minors. Gives me a icky feeling.
