True. They dont want to put so much money into a solo that wont pay off or the person themselves fuck up. In a group you can put a member on hiatus or take them out.

Virtually all of the soloists after Lee Jieun began as a member of a group, which made their careers more stable but losing the first few years in their groups. Since they showed a lot of themselves while being a member of the group, there are less newer things for them to show so their success is largely dependent upon what their group had built to the day.
