No. In my opinion, physical albums period don't have much use since 90% of people who buy physical albums do not actually use the CD that comes with it.
It's a waste of materials, resources, and hazardous to the environment. A better solution would be to just sell the photobook and let fans buy photocards separately. Unfortunately, that eats into the pockets of the companies, so won't be happening.

I haven't purchased a physical album in two years because I no longer own anything that can play CDs anymore (my laptop doesn't have a CD drive, had to replace my car in 2020 and there wasn't even one on the lot with a CD drive).
I'm the same way: it's a waste of resources to go "oh pretty" and then have it collect dust on the shelf. At least when I owned something with a CD player, I could listen to Big Bang while I was running my errands.
So to answer OP's question: for me, the driving factor is the fact that I can't even listen to the CD, not the case it comes in.

Jewel cases are superrrrrr shit plastic so if you have the ability to go to an actual store and buy one and can check for cracks/broken hinges then sure, but if you will be buying it online there's a fairly decent chance for it to be damaged because they usually aren't padded enough.
Just looking a picture of one can potentially damage it. 😔

Wow. Literally, wow.
To imagine how many millions of CDs are being sold annually. I know there are probably still some people who use CDs, but the amount of people who don't.

I have been carting around my old CDs from high school for ages and when I finally started buy kpop albums I broke down and bought a little mini boombox to have a player, but it's also bluetooth compatible so I just keep using that part.

we're the same person

Yeah they’re the best and only thing I want. Everything can be uniform.
-

it's not. and as someone said above, most arrived damaged anyway unless they have special packaging where the jewelcase comes inside another slipcase/sleevebox (SM went through this phase with red velvet for a WHILE and finally let go. however now they are doing the "case" version thing which still sucks for the environment
). if you REALLY love the group (it's bts so i would) then yes, but it's still iffy imo.
-
all im going to say is that the jewel case version is going to be MUCH cheaper than the other version for this bts album. its meant to be a budget version and ofc boost sales. lesserafim had a "jewel case version" of their album that wasnt actually a jewel case but was sized and priced similarly so i suspect bts' version will be the same
