Why do you guys act like StayC didn't come from a nugu company ?

cause real nugu companies start with much less capital and dont get to spend even a 10th of their money on promos and have to rely solely on miracles to even get noticed in the first place

idk but if a group does well in korea but not so much internationally get flop if a group doesn't well internationally but good in korea they get called a local group let them be

guess people would just think whatever they want to think......

Comparing their companies (Loona and StayC) is actually a good example

They are both new, they both got the capitol, they didnt had any experience. One managed their budget well the other well blew it up.

BEP are new to the market, but it seems like they kept their eyes open and did learn a few things

cause without word of mouth, the only other way to discover the group was if you by chance happened to land on one of their vids on youtube

no ads

no photoshoots

no media articles

no TV appearance

literally 0 promotion

it was honestly insanely frustrating

You could argue Kakao has NINE acts that are well known among Kpop fans both inside and outside Korea, and six that are known to Korean GP. That's more than any other Kpop company except perhaps SM.

How many times I will respond to these type of comments. No one cares about Kakao in kpop, they don’t give the exposure of what BIG4 and doesn’t guarantee a huge success like you really think Apink, IU...are famous because they under sub label from Kakao it’s like saying Billlie has the big4 privilege because their company is under SM you cant be that serious

Stayc actually got a lot of predebut hype in AKP which is rare for nugu group. I still remember people advertise StayC as new supergroup before they even debuted.

Maybe there should be a thread regarding how Kakao has to be included in the Big 4, making it the Big 5 of Kpop.

Actually both sides of the argument look correct to me.

HighUp entertainment is definitely not like Big 3 in its clout, but neither is it some struggling start up, Kakao funding is a big plus.

Having a great producer is itself no guarantee for success - Brave Brothers/Brave Girls; but BB gave songs meant for BG to other groups, whereas BEP seem to be focused on STAYC, even reduced producing for Chungha/Twice.

So STAYC falls in the middle, they are not Big 3, neither are they nugu. Should be considered 2nd or 3rd tier agency. Besides the agency model and clout network is changing a lot with Social Media/Pandemic. It does not go as far as it used.

Look at Seori, a Youtuber who signed up with an unknown company as its first artist, is still making some waves. The advantage of belonging to a big agency might be limited to number of times the artist can fail and still continue. Not that much in terms of promotions, exposure as it used to be. Still there, but there are more options now.

Neither CJ ENM nor Kakao M can be considered Kpop companies, until they recruit, train, debut talents with an in-house label. All they have been doing is buying/funding labels/producers who are already doing that business.

Only HYBE because it grew from BigHit, deserves to join the Big 3, but I would wait till they debut a GG and make it a success.
