Most of their groups are on their first contract. It's common that the first contract is much more favorable to the company than the group members. Once the groups renew, that's when the contracts become more favorable to the group members themselves. All of JYP's money makers are on their first contract, which is why their costs are lower than others. Actually, it is because JYPE only focuses on the idol industry, so they are doing it very efficiently and systematically.

The other companies got other business ventures aside from just the idol industry, which requires more employees and operating costs.

I wonder how much these company’s would make if they had in house producers instead of having to buy/share profit of music. JYP probably had the best model because per project they’re low key taking home the most money, along with HYBE.

That is also a big part of it for sure and that's why JYP has such low revenue numbers. The other thing is how these companies may want creatively hide profit to avoid taxes, etc.

But I recall reading a financial analysis on the big 4 companies, and the cost was by far the lowest for JYP for their idol groups. With YG idol group costs being the highest and SM being a close second. At the time of the analysis, BTS just renewed, so that information wasn't updated yet, but they were projecting that their costs would go up significantly because of that.

175B won < 188B won

Even without BTS releasing an album HYBE made more then the big 3 combined for a second year in both revenue & profit

Ah. Well...tbh, not that much was released the last few months of the year...

They have 4 almost 5 groups that are currently actively making comebacks. Only 3 of them made a single comeback that quarter too.

Revenue: 40.6 billion won (34.8 million USD~)

Operating Profit: 9.6 billion won (8.24 million USD~)

I'd need to see 3rd quarter because that was probably JYPE's most active quarter of last year I think.

It's really just a typo. The 14.5 billion KRW (with a B) makes much more sense and matches the conversion to 12.1 million USD

I really wish I could find the revenue for JYPE for the 3rd quarter because really? JYPE groups almost released nothing the first two-quarters last year. The website that I found that reported this also said that they didn't do as good the first quarter as they did the year before (2020)
