ah Superior Nation idiotic law strikes again

By extending their laws beyond their own borders, they basically rule as illegitimate the laws of every other sovereign states. That's the first problem.
And then it also has weird implications ie. under this system a foreigner has more rights than a Korean citizen. If a foreign celebrity travels to SK, some who did gamble in the US or elsewhere, obviously they won't get prosecuted.
Look at these filthy criminals! Hopefully they will travel to SK soon they can get arrested as they deserved.

the real funny thing is that foreigners can gamble inside of sk legally but their own citizens cant

See, that's the crazy thing to me. Basically South Koreans are sub citizens inside their own country. It's mind boggling that a foreigner can do things that a SK citizen cannot under SK's own rules.

South Korean law has so many flaws.
Kdrama Law School perfectly showcases so many loopholes and stupid things...

Oh this law applies to my country too if they conduct random blood checks and they test that you did smoke weed overseas you are so so screwed
dayum

Idk why people are acting holier than though toward Korean law
In my country, sleeping with underage prostitutes is illegal. Lets say someone goes to another country where its legal and do it, should they not be punished for it?
That is actually a big problem, sex tourism. If countries dont extend their laws, yhen people will go to another place to commit all sorta of debaucheries.
Use your brains

But if they go to your country and its legal….why be punished in your homecountry for it? It happened on your turf under your rules.

bc the citizen of your country committed this?
People literally take their daughters back to their countries to commit honor killing
Should they not be punished when they come back here bc honor killing is acceptable somewhere else?

Or maybe we shouldn't compare smoking weed to honor killings. In my world view, these two things don't compare. But maybe it's just me!

Smoking weed is illegal in my country, but when I go to Amsterdam in two years I'm going to try it (something mild obviously). Because I'm curious, and because life is about new experiences.
Koreans being banned worldwide from anything their paternalistic country decides is not good for them is inevitably going to result in push back.
Actually a girl I go to college with says it's not hard to access weed in Korea. A lot of clubs reek of it.

Where is killing legal?
Not really the same as smoking weed

It’s fun in Amsterdam. And controlled somewhat.

The difference is, Interpol doesn't investigate weed smoking. You know why? Because it's not a crime! Not the same thing!
So you tell me, in the case of a country that ruled that women must be veiled, do you condone the punishing of women who would have travelled to a country where they don't have to wear a veil and where they didn't wear a veil? I don't.
I'm more of an advocate of "In Rome, do as Romans do". When you're in Rome, you abide to Roman laws, whether you're a Roman or not. But when you're somewhere else, you don't have to. You abide to another set of laws in accordance to the location you're currently in.

Honor killing isn't legal anyway Fwy it's considered a homicide in muslim and Arab countries
-

Yes we have casinos. There's one that Koreans can goto but its very regulated going to a casino here for a citizen is like applying to buy a gun😂😂 a huge hassle

For gambling pretty sure u can do it legally a.k.a professionally .
If u know hong jinho a Korean personality that I follow .
Hes an ex pro StarCraft player .
But became a RV personality like in tv show 'genius' and 'crime scene' .
Last time I check he's a pro poker player now. And do alot of poker tournament overseas too.
-
There’s casinos there?
Yes, but they pathetic compared to Las Vegas or Macau. It's filled with gamblers from China.
Same rule applies to Singapore. Locals cannot gamble at the Marina Bay Sands.

I actually found out about Hong Jinho not so long ago. He did a web show series with girl group woo!ah! for the World Cyber Games 2020. That was hilarious. I didn't know he was a professional poker player though.

ah Superior Nation idiotic law strikes again
You ended up clowning yourself big time criticizing the law system without one ounce of knowledge.
It completely makes sense for a country to have a control over its citizens, wherever those citizens live.
You brought up "gambling" which indeed is a perfect example. My country completely ban casino as debt ridden gambler may desperate enough to commit crime on property, theft, embezzle, fraud. Also, legalized gambling can be conveniently use for money laundering. Without the extended reach on oversea activities of its citizens, my country is still in the risks above despite the casino ban. For example, a politician reported he earned 1m AUD via gambling in Australia, he earned from oversea gambling for over 2m USD in total within 3 years and no loss was recorded. Also, they have been multiple crimes of theft committed by debtees of casinos in neighboring countries.
Such problem will end if oversea gambling is banned.
If the law is applicable oversea over some specific crimes, the law enforcement is not even and complicated.
South Korea shares Romano-Germanic law system with like half of the world.
South Korean law has so many flaws.
The same can be said to the law of every single country in the world.
-
South Korea shares Romano-Germanic law system with like half of the world.
and that’s relevant to my comment how? I never said sk’s laws are the only dumb ones on this earth; god knows there are many others, my country included, which indeed do share similarities with korea’s. These 2 facts don’t cancel each other out and suddenly yeet the dumbness away lmao

Too restrictive, but it's theirlaw 🤷♀️

Maybe those countries where it’s legal needs to change their laws to protect underage prostitutes.
-

That comparison doesn’t even make sense…. If honor killing is legal then that law needs to be changed. Though I’m sure honor killing is not necessarily legal, but more so countries tend to turn a blind eye on its practice.

This thread is giving me it’s okay if it’s stupid because it’s Korea.
Typical kboo vibes that think Korea is a utopia and everything they do is perfect. And I’m not even just referring to this marijuana law.
By the way smoking marijuana has been decriminalized in Thailand.
-
But your comparison is still wrong. And shouldn’t be made. This law is silly because it’s smoking weed.
As for your argument it in fact does not extend to everything I don’t know where you got that information. In fact there is a special clause that explicitly says in the US for example it has to be ‘particularly heinous’. No one is getting prosecuted if you go on drinking trip to Europe but damn straight the US government will have something to say if you commit some elaborate fraud.
So don’t give me random BS about ‘arguing other cases out’ it is extremely common for people to differentiate between petty crimes and serious ones. Entire judicial systems are based on it.
And in case you still don’t get it : smoking weed is a not ‘particularly heinous’ and a country that thinks so will be laughed at. Which is what is happening here.
