Question about BTS album sales

This is what I'm confused about. When they say BTS album sold 5 million copies? Is that in Korea? Or the world?
I just want Korean numbers.
It depends, some albums count to Hanteo even though they are not from “korea“ but BTS is really big in Korea nonetheless
-
I would think Hanteo numbers are the closest to Korea-only but not every store is affiliated with Hanteo, from what I understand, so it still doesn't capture all sales in Korea. I could be wrong though.

From the world, but counting on Gaon. Kpop fans buy majority on stores affiliated with Gaon so it's pretty ww, but i still think 50% or more of their sales are from s.k.

huh, that is a wonderful question old man
idk how old you are but im assuming you're old

the term basically is this:

but a lot of people tend to use it more loosely for just old people in general (as a joke typically)

My life story. They even used my photo. That's me in the blue with the mustache.

LMAO you tagged me. Anyway there is no way to confirm how exactly many of their pure sales are Korean, but it's estimated at 11,540,000 as of May 2021.

Hanteo is a certified partner to Amazon and other international services, so Hanteo isn't a reliable tool for that reason.

Gaon is how many copies are shipped to stores, and not all stores report those numbers. Hanteo is sales, but not every store is Hanteo-affiliated. Basically it's all one big guessing game, we just use Gaon since it's the easiest platform to understand.

i wasn't that far off then

"OK boomer" isn’t just about the past. It’s about our apocalyptic future. It’s not really about age — and it’s more complicated than just memes.www.vox.com -

“Ok, boomer“ is like the opposite of the whole “gen z only know touch and not real work“ thing that was very popular with the older generation. That’s how ok, boomer started to happen. It’s a playful way to say that someone is out of touch
-
I'm not gonna lie here, i won't read the article kkkkk buuuut i understood and it's just like any other insult we joke about like me calling others b here kkkkk

For Korea there is no reliable way to get Korean only sales. The only country that really does that is Japan which has makes it's Oricon. They require you either pick it up physically in a store in Japan or the order has to go to a Japanese address before it is counted. The only way for a foreign person to get the album is to go through a redistribution company and then have them ship it to you. They have these but the amount of sales they do in comparison to the normal domestic sales is trivial. Probably 1/100th of the sales of any Album. They also don't include bulk buying for counting so if someone or a group orders 200 Albums it counts to a maximum of 3 albums. They actually did that in response to Korean Sajaegi.

of their total pure sales? About 44%. I miscalculated on my first post, it's 11.5M estimated from Korea.

Thanks for this! I know how difficult it is, but a significant part of their sales are definitely still from South Korea!

Oh wow. I love this. Wish Korea would do it too. That way we could get a better idea of how popular these groups really are.
Something like this would really hurt Twice though. You got guys like Sam who bulk buy 100k albums for a group. But if he wasn't allowed to do that then how many people would actually go through the painful process of getting the Korean address so they can buy only 1 album?
It wouldn't be worth it if you cant support your faves by buying 20 copies lol
-
i mean statistically it would be safe to assume that at least 60% to 75% of bts' album sales com from fans outside of korea. you do the math
It looks like it's more than 50%, but not as high as you're guessing.
-
And why aren't we talking about the huge drop in sales from MAP OF THE SOUL 7: THE JOURNEY to BE?
They fell off by over a million. How is that not declining??

It would hurt a lot of kpop groups not just twice
