Please no.... as a MOA.... repacks don't count alongside the main album.... its a separate album.... that chart account is trying to use YNWA and WINGs as an example but the article BH posted actually states the WINGS SERIES (not album) sold 1M (eg kinda like saying the LY Series sold 7M+). YNWA and Wings are not counted together (not on gaon, hanteo, billboard or ifpi).

you can say the Chaos series has sold 1M+ but its not one album selling 1M. Its two separate albums.

Just to clarify: Hanteo and Gaon do not count the albums as one but separately so TXT won’t be getting a certification as a million seller unless each of the albums sell a million. Freeze is at 780k and FOE has preorders of 390k. Best not to conflate the numbers.

But hanteo and gaon will count Freeze and FOE as separate albums. So it doesn't matter tho, it won't affected music shows and korean awards.

My jpop faves never had a repackage album (they debuted last year), this is actually the first time I know Oricon counts repackage with previous album

Ugh no, repackages count SEPERATE, and BH has never counted them together.

Neither does Billboard, IFPI or GAON so I don’t know what this account is talking about.

They’re OBVIOUSLY mixing up repackage/reissue and re-releasing different versions.

Repackages have different working titles and are counted as SEPERATE albums.. this is why BTS Japanese version of MOST isn’t counted with the original because it has a different working title. Re-releases are the same album often time the different versions are indicated by parenthesis. That’s why Be (Deluxe) and Be (Essentials Edition) are counted together. It’s the same album. So if MOST:7 - The Journey was released as Map of the Soul: 7 (Japanese Version) or Map of the Soul: 7 (The Journey version) it’s sales would of merged with the original.

Repackage examples:

Wings/You Never Walk Alone

Good Girl Gone Bad / Good Girl Gone Bad:Reloaded

Teenage Dream / Teenage Dream: Complete Confection

Re-release/reissue/different version

Future Nostalgia / FN (Moonlight Edition)

Fearless / Fearless (Taylor’s Version)

The Fame / The Fame Monster

25 / 25 (Deluxe)

So basically if the album title is the same then you can have as many versions you want and they’ll all count together.

Example:

Be (Deluxe)

Be (Essential Version)

Be (BTS Version)

Be (Army edition)

Be (platinum edition)

All of these versions would of counted together.

Note: The Fame Monster was released both as a SEPERATE EP and a deluxe to The Fame. So depending on which version you bought the sales were either counted as ONLY The Fame Monster EP sales or The Fame.

thanks but I personally think It’s disingenuous to claim to be a million seller by combining an album with a repackage. And you’re right, hopefully TXT will be able to sell 1 million for a single album. But for now, that hasn’t happened yet.

FYI: “Repackage” sales are always counted for the main album sales. Even BigHit always counted as one (look on the tweet). And also, charts like Billboard, Oricon and UWC count the album as one because it’s a “deluxe” version of the main album.
