The difference between sports fans and boy band fans.

  • This makes me kinda sad tbh.

Seriously Ikw of men in their 70's who smash stuff around after sports matches but media, society, men heck even some women put down other women for even liking boybands. Gg stans of both genders do the same in kpop. Toxic fans are a part of every fanbase but it's weird how only things teenage girls or women in general like are put down. I was planning on making a thread about it after the vandalism and domestic violence news in England after the match but this video and article has explained it so well.

  • When people discuss misogyny , this is where the roots come from!

Everything that is targeted at women are terrible

Boy groups .12 years pre teen girls.

    Twilight

    Romcom movies

Just see the difference between how Madonna is treated and some drug addicts rockstars are addicted

Madonna build a empire, set new highs for current popstars, never did drugs, raised her children with manners. But she is bashed everyday. Some rockstars with history of drugs are treated Godly!

I am a sports fan myself, but it is so hypocritical rules are different for sports fans

  • This video is brilliant. Alot of ppl arent ready for these conversations. Espesh certain GG stans who frequently look down on/disrespect/dismiss female fans of BG's with these same words and stereotypes described in this video.

It's all round pathetic and sad.

  • I grew up listening to so many celebrated rockstars who I recently learned were straight up paedophiles and groomers. It's crazy how much is shoved under the carpet. Sometimes I feel people should have more conversations but in developing countries the word feminism itself is seen as a dirty or bad thing or what "loose women" say. Meme pages with millions of followers make rape jokes about feminists and bash a kpop bg idol every other day calling them girls.

I'm going off on a bit of a tangent here but I really don't know why they think muscles and abs is a chick magnet. Then women will be stanning macho bodybuilders not boybands made with handsome guys their own age. Like even what we need to find attractive is force-fed on TV and it's usually an actor over 60 rippling his muscles and dancing with his barely legal co star. Even in developed countries there are redpillers. Everytime I see a Jordan Peterson destroys stoopid waman compilation with millions of views it makes me loose hope for the next gen.

It's so mentally draining to even see how years of brainwash, porn and entitlement can erode a young impressionable guys brain and worse how much society accommodates and coddles it. Let's not add the dose of misogyny in developing countries. It's so sad.

In kpop itself there's a very skewed idea of feminism and empowerment that's a whole another can of worms. They push the same crazy fangirl salivating over bgs stereotype towards bg fangirls and then say stan women. Its like trying to douse a fire with kerosene.

  • and it is not about stanning boy bands. all interests and hobbies that are mainly followed by women have historically been ridiculed no matter how harmless they are.

  • Fangirls are stereotipically seen as hysterical beings which is sexist in itself. Women are represented as hysterical and hormonal persons without a brain for centuries.

An hobby has to be validated by men to gain some value so if you are an artist, you can't have good music if your fanbase is dominated by women. It's just so stupid to think like that. Some men refuse to check out boy bands because it's seen as not manly enough. It's the same for all the interests seen as girly. "It's for girls so not for me". Good music is good music no matter your gender or who you mainly appeal to.

  • Among kpop fan, not many are ready to do the conversation & especially GG stans. Stanning GG but mocking female stans of BG, other GGs, other members of bias group with whole lungs, don’t they get smell of Mysogyny that time that comes from their own mouth.

When I listen to Music, my 1st thought is not about what the chromosome of the music's maker rather lyrics, concept, voice.

  • there are some people who look down on girls who are fangirling.

But dont you think those people look even more down to boys screaming out their lungs for BGs or GGs?

There definitely can be! People don't look down on women cheering at a football match either. It's more about how seriously either genders interests are taken.

Yes, male fans are even less accepted, but it's because it's considered a girl's thing.

  • Aren't the hobbies favored by men also ridiculed to some extent? Like, aren't women roll their eyes too when boys engage in heated conversations about football, when they spend time and money tuning their cars? What about the nerds' hobbies, like Warhammer figures, collectible card games, video games, superhero comic books? These hobbies don't really scream "coolness". People can and do mock these behaviours.

  • It is sexism. I know men in real life who go to the stadium, get wasted and half naked there and they scream, jump and throw those things that make light and smoke. They get angry when their team loses and they curse everyone, they might even break things. And yet, I was more ridiculed for liking a boy band.

Anything women door like isn't taken seriously. And God forbid a woman shows interest in men's hobbies. She will ridiculed even more.

  • I think the foreign aspect also plays a role here. Fans of anime are also looked down upon even when the majority is male.

I feel anything outta the west especially U.S with hollywood or the Disney/nickelodeon pop star factory blows up fast. Even UK to some extent. They can go head to head with most countries local releases.

Maybe cuz most social media companies are American based like reddit and fb.

But about boybands I think one direction also received the same treatment as bts(except with bts there was a lot more xenophobia). Plus we all know what happened to justin Bieber like you were lame if you didn't hate him. Same with the twilight series.
