Was SHINee a top tier group?

I don't think anyone here will deny that SHINee was - and still is honestly - an iconic group. Their glory days might be behind them, but their legacy is forever.

Yes, not sure why 3rd gen and 4th gen fans are arguing that they weren't. They had national hits and always did well on the charts, they were a group everybody knew. Definitely in the top 5 for most popular groups during the 2nd gen.

Heck their B-sides chart better on Gaon than most active boy groups in the 4th gen.

They may never have been #1 but they are a very iconic and respected group..

they brought many international fans to kpop and like actually many...

most of the 4th gen idols started their training for kpop after watching shinee..

around 50% of the foreign kpop idols today got into kpop through shinee amd came to Korea to train.. and that is freaking huge....

They were the OG fashion kings. They’re the Haute Couture group of SM along with F(x) i feel.

They're giving a Tokyo Dome concert in Japan. So they are guaranteed in the top 5. Even now, SHINee is highly respected. 4th generation idols listen to Replay and decide to become an idol. SHINee contributes a lot to the industry.

Yes, and they still are. They’ve always been popular and have great songs. They’re still one of the most respected second gen groups.

They've been popular forever and still were a success this year after their hiatus. They are really talented, have a great discography, and have Taemin. It's not a surprise why.

Why using the past tense with SHINee tho? I feel like many people think are old because they debuted in 2008 but they really aren't, they are on the same age group as Exo, they are not senior citizens. And honestly, they are still on top of their game, charting better than 4rth gen boy groups, breaking their own records, holding fan meetings at Tokyo Dome etc etc..
