Not sure what you’re trying to say bc 700k uls is a sharp drop for iu who used to rack up 1.3 and 1.4m uls for her songs in the past lol, bc obviously melon did lose users to its competitors

This is after reform. And 700k ULs is a big deal now. Only two songs so far have reached that peak if I’m not mistaken. Dynamite and Celebrity.
Compared to the narrative of “my faves can’t get 300k ULs so melon have to be losing users”, it’s more plausible to admit that people were just not tuning in

so you do acknowledge that after the reform, the way melon counts its uls is changed now for whatever reason, and yet in the next sentence you’re still saying the drop in songs’ uls is bc of people not tuning in and not bc of melon’s reform? Lol what?

no you’re the one severely lacking logical thinking here. Why would you compare iu’s uls with other artists’ lower uls to prove that melon didn’t lose users at all lol? It makes absolutely no sense.
Before reform: iu consistently got 1.2m to 1.4m uls for every song she released.
After reform: iu got 700k to 800k uls at most for her songs now.
It’s really simple to see that melon as a whole has decreased in listeners.
But since 700k > 300k surely that means any artist not touching iu’s uls now are all losing listeners, and not bc melon as a whole has decreased its userbase, affecting iu as well in the process lmaoo.
Iu has always had most uls compared to every other artist no matter if it’s before or after the reform, so the fact that now some artist (or idols) can’t touch iu’s current level of uls (700k) says absolutely nothing about whether people stopped tuning in for that artist or not lol.

Basically they want BP, TWICE, Red Velvet and Mamamoo to either appear on their Shows or Represent them.

yeah it’s really obvious that there’s been a shift in music consumption in korea, with people moving away from melon and toward other platforms. People saying otherwise to berate idols for not reaching their previous level of uls on melon are just immensely out of touch for someone with such vindictive convictions lol

I think Twice kinda have that 'has-been' feel, like Girls Generation.
They're a household name, and established and respected - they're always going to do well on brand reputation & stuff (just like how SNSD is still ranking 10 years later despite not doing much).
But in terms of 'What's Hot', they're a bit irrelevant while OMG are kind of the media's current darling for being the nation's 'cute' girl group. So yeah, flavor of the month.

Pick any random person on the street and ask them to name an Oh My Girl member and they'll struggle. Ask them to name a Twice member and they'll at least know one.
There's a difference between trends and legends.
