it has like an iconic/cult/cringy but classic status right?
like Britney spears baby one more time or Aqua's barbie girl!
that song is his most successful song?
I don’t follow his career closely but I think it is. It was close to Gangnam style in my country everybody knew it by heart lol.. but he had some really popular songs for the first 5 years or so of his career
it’s bts. he wasn’t selling like them, being streamed like them, touring like them, breaking records like them, anything
he just had the whole hype of an industry plant that was discovered by accident. the billie eilish of his time. younger people might not remember that as well. he was organic to start but they pushed him like a plant. his peak wasn’t bigger than bts are now.
and 1d’s peak is behind them both
How many of your guys are even old enough to live through and actually listen to music in the years from Bieber all the way till BTS now, to even make a proper judgement?
Baby came out in 2010 80% of your guys were probably what <10 years old when it came out do you all even listen to music back then, or go to concerts, or even follow the news on how popular those artists are back then? Probably not
Justin Bieber was/is the most famous.
I can't talk for every country out there. But I was in school back then and pretty much everyone had listened to Baby. 1/3 of the boys adopted his Baby hairstyle and 1/3 of the girls had a crush on him. Baby also became the most viewed YT video back in 2010 until it was dethroned by Gangnam Style in 2012.
His next songs weren't that big outside his fandom. Only Never Say Never got a mainstream fame because it was the theme song for the movie Karate Kid. Boyfriend also got a bit of fame. But neither was as big as Baby.
Then Sorry in 2015 became his biggest song. It has 3.4B views.
You may argue BTS's fandom is bigger than JB's fandom at its peak, but JB had more mainstream fame.

Same lol even I remember it. It was popular to hate on him a lot too
He's still pretty big in Asia. Bigger than most western artists.

I mean I’m from a a conservative Muslim country in the Middle East and jb and the song were so popular school had to conduct mini lectures explaining how the devil can come to us thro him and his song lol.. sh*t was traumatizing but a testimony of his popularity
Here it was mainly jealous boys hating on him because he stole all the girls' hearts.

The boys imitating his hair and look jaajja@ishah&@!!! It was bad
It’s the Biebs, but it’s hard looking back for me to be totally objective about his success. I was 27 in 2010 and he was just a floppy-haired baby singing a daft song, in my eyes, or of most of the people my age. But he was huge, sure.
After that point, he was more infamous. Sure, everyone knew his name, but you were hard-pressed to find people who mostly knew his name because he kept being a cast-iron prat or at least many people who would admit publically to any other viewpoint! So I can’t remember that as him being popular, even if he must still have had millions of followers/fans at that point.
He’s definitely rehabbed his image to a certain extent; but I think his peak has passed.
BTS have not reached their peak yet, but I’d rather take them at this level over infamous worldwide for being egotistical, messy eejits!
If justin released a pop album, he will kill all the global charts within a few seconds. It's sad that now he's making mature music, even though i like it.
One direction is literally the biggest boyband ever. If they came back as 4, they will surely dominate sm for a week lmao.
Bts is famous rn, i hope they face some competition from other groups.
Besides 1980's sprinter Ben Johnson, Justin Bieber is arguably the most famous Canadian person of all time.
What about The Weeknd?
