Is it time to finally realize SOME DIVES can be the new BLONKS?

I mean, how toxic a fandom can be?

It's not just fighting with other fandoms, no, they're attacking one of the director/writer of Kpop Demon Hunters as well.

They basically bullied her to post about Yujin, and when she did, well... they're basically accusing her for copying IVE. :exit-pepe:

    Chose your fighter!

How it started: Moos were surprised and happy and were grateful...

She finally reposted Yujin's cover: DIVES were thankful? No, they were hateful.

    And so many others.

    They're absolutely INSANE!

  • Nope

This is like the first time they've been controversial. I think this movie is making people go crazy because they want their favorites to go viral.

Also, it's easy to find a few bad apples because every fandom has that. Lastly, the post you shared has very low engagement, so why share that? It seems like you're trying to create a fake narrative about the fandom. I don't see the point of giving those tweets engagement.

edit: I assume you meant Yujin and not Yunjin in the op

Not on Twitter, or IG, not to mention Tiktok. Trust me, I watched them doing it for a long time, I just ignored them.

They were like this way before the movie too, but that was just the usual Chart and Streaming obsession madness. This is next level crazy. Not many Kpop fandom can say they launched a hate train against the actual creators of something.

I only shared some comments, because I didn't want to flood the whole topic. You can read all the comments or qrts, it's absolutely disgusting. Yes, every fandom has bad apples, but if you follow Kpop fandoms on SNS, (sadly I have to because that's my job), you'd see what I see, and it's not pretty.

Neverland too, even Moos, mostly solo akgaes but still.

What I'm trying is to make people realize DIVES are not a kind and chill fandom either. In the past few weeks, all they do is talking about KDH and how they copied "I AM". It's tiring honestly.

  • I still think it's pointless because you can find bad apples in most fandoms. I think dives like nevies are the least toxic when it comes to popular girl groups. I still think it's pointless to cherry pick this one moment to create a narrative about a fandom is weird. I am not always online to see things, but I rarely see this fandom engage in stan wars like other popular groups.

Maybe my feed is different, but I don't see dives acting more toxic than other big groups. I think it's common in kpop for some fans to become more toxic when their favorite group is successful.

    I didn't cherry-pick anything, I could post 100 other hate comments.

When I said this, I wasn't talking about the whole fandom, obviously, but the bigger the fandom, the more toxic people you can find.

In the past couple of months, all I have seen on Twitter is IVE, i-dle, aespa, BP, Twice, LSF "fans" arguing with each other like crazy. And now, some new ADP "fans" joined the fight too, btw, with this nonsense ADP vs KARD madness.

You're lucky you don't use SNS that often.

Many Kpop fans say, DIVES and MYs are absolute crazy on Twitter and Tiktok, and it started last year. Before that, they weren't this toxic. I get aespa, because last year they had a massive year, but with IVE, I can't say that.

All I remember is BLINKS were fighting with DIVES about Coachella vs Lollapalooza. 💀

  • dives on X are insufferable esp wonyoung stans

Wonyoungism is a whole other can of worms, too. But even that has less to do with IVE than just Wonyoung akgaes.

To be fair, that's true. Solo stans are even crazier than group stans.

As I said above, even MAMAMOO solo akgaes are disgusting and crazy, like some of them actually deserve to be in a padded room. Imo, solo stans are much worse than group stans.

  • No, it's just a few bad apples that stir the trouble and are toxic on twitter (and you can also find them from other fandoms).

I'm a DIVE too and I personally find the whole issue with Kpop Demon Hunters ridiculous. Golden doesn't even sound that much like I Am, I saw the film on the day of the release and I never thought about this comparison until people pointed it out online. I know the film was inspired by a few kpop groups so I didn't really get too deep into it, just enjoyed it.

I wish there comes a day when the whole fandoms aren't judged by a few people who like to instigate fanwars or be aggressive.

  • What are Ive fans even gonna do

Get 100 likes and praying they enter Spotify

    Girl this is nothing

Like look at this, their effort isn't going to Ive at all

  • You may not know but this is a Japanese release and it's always much less promoted than their Korean comeback. It's not promoted on any shows, only by an MV and on their IG. The album isn't even released until later.

It's "nice" though that you went to talk badly about a group only because of a few toxic stans, who stir trouble on twitter.

  • At this point, you’re the one chasing after the haters on social media, not the other way around. Time to chill with the paranoia

I don't chase anyone, I was literally readin the post about Solar, and I saw their toxic tweets.

Do you even know what paranoia means?

I'm an IVE fan too, and the problem isn't really the fact that some of them comparing the 2 songs or the MV with the movie. That's okay, but many of them attacked the director to share the cover, and now to say some nice words about it too or clarify it they stole the music basically.

The creators said this many times, the movie, including characters, story, music were inspired by many Idols, and musicians all around the world, not just Kpop.

I mean, this post from is also clarifying this, and you can all guess the comments.

This one is even worse than the IVE post.

I didn't judge the whole fandom, btw, I never did. Not even with big fandoms like ARMY, ONCE or BLINKS.

People on SNS are the loud minority and everyone knows that.

You may not know but this is a Japanese release and it's always much less promoted than their Korean comeback. It's not promoted on any shows, only by an MV and on their IG. The album isn't even released until later.

It's "nice" though that you went to talk badly about a group only because of a few toxic stans, who stir trouble on twitter.

True. Unless you're a Jpop fan, most people don't care about Japanese releases, especially if there's a Korean version. Even fans don't listen to those version that much.

  • But I would still have the same opinion - it's just some people acting badly, not the whole fandom. I obviously don't support any harrassment and I think this whole thing is getting a bit insane, but it's not like I can do anything about it. I don't even use twitter, so I can't tell those DIVEs to stop (not that it would change anything).

Same thing happened a while ago when I saw some tweets with Blinks saying that because Rumi looks a little like Jennie, then Jennie should have sang Takedown and Jihyo should've been left out, because she's a cheap substitute. I got a bit irritated by it but I'm not saying the whole fandom of Blinks is crazy just because a few said that.

I know that my example is weaker, because those DIVE are actually harassing someone and Blinks were just posting hateful comments about Jihyo, but you get what I mean. I simply felt like you judged the whole fandom because you implied that Dive are the next Blinks, which I see many people consider one of the most toxic fandoms. The way your initial post and the poll was worded was implying you mean a bigger group, not just those who did that on twitter.

But if you mean only those who attacked the director, then yes I think they're insane.

Edit: By the way, I myself don't consider all Blinks toxic, I just wrote what I saw people saying. I used to be a Blink until a few years ago and met some lovely fellow Blinks, even now that I present mostly as Once, where I might be judged by it (because Once also are not considered saints). I just felt like clarifying, in case my post reads wrongly. I don't consider any fandom toxic, just the bad individuals.

  • There aren't many people here who talk about IVE anyway.

Just because I don't think DAY6 is the best girl group, doesn't mean I'm toxic, btw.

If you don't use Twitter, good for you, but as I said, my job is to follow SNS trends, write articles about it, and follow a lot of accounts, so even if I want to I can't ignore these things.

Trust me, if I'm not paid to do this, I wouldn't use SNS at all.

  • Maybe I will rename the thread to "SOME" DIVES, to be more clear, because for toxic BLINKS there's a name BLONKS, but there's none for DIVES.

I thought it's gonna obv I'm not talking about the whole fandom.

BLONKS did the same or even worse on that Jennie/Rumi post btw, they attacked the director and mentioned BTS as usual. It's the same war with the boys: "Why did you post about BTS but not BP?" Or Twice.

  • David33

Changed the title of the thread from “Is it time to finally realize DIVES can be the new BLINKS?” to “Is it time to finally realize SOME DIVES can be the new BLONKS?”.

Yeah, it looks clearer for me now, before it really looked like you were generalising.

Eh, toxic people will always be toxic. Finding new ways to harass people and they think it will help their idols, while in reality it leaves an awful impression.

  • You may not know but this is a Japanese release and it's always much less promoted than their Korean comeback. It's not promoted on any shows, only by an MV and on their IG. The album isn't even released until later.

much less is 100k like most group do, 35k in debut day is drop deth awfull

  • much less is 100k like most group do, 35k in debut day is drop deth awfull

I don't really know because I don't follow the charts and stats, I just enjoy the music from my favourite groups. I'll even be the first one to admit that I like their Japanese songs less than the Korean ones, so I don't listen to them that much myself.

I just simply wanted to say that because of the behaviour of some people on twitter, you went to shade IVE and shared how poorly their latest release is doing. And IVE have nothing to do with their fans' behaviour online. But I guess you're allowed to do it, if you want to.

Just ignore that user they literally have not made a positive comment on this site since born

  • The original golden has 300M streams I think they’re good but okay pixel stan :pepe-smug:

  • there are some bad apples in every bunch

we should call out problematic fans of any groups regardless if they are dives or blinks etc etc

we shouldn't judge entire fandoms for the actions of a selective few

  • I think it's so funny how you are always ready to point fingers at fandoms and bring in stupid fanwars when to me you are as toxic as the ones you always accuse of toxicity.

Like, you don't stan some groups, but shockingly enough your tt or sns is full of the fandom you aren't part of, wow.

Hon, I never attack a group, Idol or a fandom just because someone made a post about them or calling them flops, ugly, fat, irrelevant, old hags etc. It's your fandom's toxic side on SNS.

I'm not toxic, and that's a fact. I have different opinions, BUT I never trashed any Idol, I'm only talking about their music or their skills. What BLONKS and some DIVES, also other fandoms, doing is different. Don't play the victim card again.

When did you see me writing hate comments under any Idols' or celebs' or even movie directors' pages like these people do?

Every time I post about a group I don't stan it's usually about their music I have to review, or when they attack my faves, just like BLONKS doing it in the past couple of weeks on Twitter now. Your gals doing a World Tour and your fandom on SNS fighting with TWICE, ILLIT and MAMAMOO fans.

Your fandom literally attacked one of the ILLIT member because she said she likes TWICE.

And let's not talk about the fact you and your fandom can't handle valid criticism and call everyone a hater, but when you're trashing a group or a music you don't call yourself a hater.

    Next level hypocrisy.

  • As long as Wonyoung is in the group, that will never happen. Wonyoungism doesn’t allow that. Wonyoungism is all about being unbothered by the bullshit.

Are you kidding? Her solo stans are the worst of the worst on SNS.😂

Between you and Yama if you ask AKP folks who is the most toxic fandom they would say Mamamoo :pepe-joy:

Yeah, and it proves how ignorant Kpop stans are.

there are some bad apples in every bunch

I didn't judge an entire fandom, never did that, not even with the biggest fandoms.
